Help. Is LimeWire really compatible with Windows95? "Q: What operating systems does LimeWire support? A: You can use LimeWire on: Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0, ME, 2000,XP." I downloaded LimeWire because I was under the impression that it would work with Windows 95, unlike many other new programs. I installed LimeWire okay (had to use the offline-installer, but other than that, fine) . The first time I ran it, it told me I had to upgrade my Java. So I do that and download the newest version of Java available for Windows 95 (version 1.3.1_16 to be exact). Then LimeWire tells me that I should upgrade to the latest version of Java, which is not compatible with Windows 95. So, do I ignore Java's warnings and download the latest Java anyway despite it's supposed incompatibility? Should I try to find an older version of LimeWire somewhere that doesn't require the latest version of Java? Or maybe I need to do neither? I'm confused. Thanks in advance. |
