Are you talking about your iTunes Music Library or your LW Library window. You've probably deleted the songs that you downlded after adding them to iTunes library. You can only transfer songs to iPod from iTunes Music Lib. (unless you use a 3rd party utility.) Why not share your iTunes Music Library & then all your songs will show up in LW's Library window.

If you want to extract songs from your iPod then you'll need a special 3rd party utility to do that. You should be able to find something here to do that: http://forums.ipodlounge.com/showthr...&threadid=4719 such as PodUtil or PodWorks & others; http://www.pure-mac.com/mp3.html

Apple tell you that once the songs are on the iPod you can't get them back to the computer. But that's not so. There's a no. of 3rd party programs that are designed for the job, both for mac & windows. Check the iTunes/iPod sticky thread at the top of the open discussion section & you'll find links there. Look for the ipod reverse music transfer link in green about 4 posts further down. It's a little indirect as Only A Hobo also gives a link. I may as well give the main link here: How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes) Broken Helix is supposed to be free.

Remember, don't get confused with the LW playlist within iTunes. Songs listed there are still within your LW downld folder. You need to "Add" them to your iTunes Music folder via the suggested techniques. It's easy once you get the hang of it. Particularly since there's so many ways to do it.

Oh, I do so hate Apple and it's iPod and iTunes! It's crap! All of it. The Nano got recalled because of it's crap screen. The Hard Drive on iPods is rubbish and breaks down, and the battery is dodgy.

Most things will last if you look after them. Batteries included (lol ) They're just like camera batteries. If you follow the instructions on maintenance such as discharging & recharging then they should last. Considering the HDD on the iPod gets tossed & jerked around, then 99% of them do reasonably well to handle it for so long. How many computer HDD's would last more than a few weeks if you tossed them around, dropped them, have them sitting on a vibrating surface such as in a car, in a handbag or whilst running/jogging/sweat hogging. You posted your opinion. I've posted the maintenance factor & considerations. There's certainly "some" things I don't like about iPods. But "all" portables have their limitations/weaknesses or questionable aspects of design. That may also include accessories or not.

Good to hear. Personally I always back up all my music onto either dvd-rw or external hdd so in case anything happens. BTW have you ever created a dvd mp3 disk using iTunes. You can play it on your dvd player with menus, etc. (Well most newer dvd players anyway.)

I have to admit I'm on my second iPod. the first one was dropped several times on a solid concrete floor before it finally gave up the ghost, and the battery life was, admittedly a little dubious. My replacement, thanks to a meagre insurance policy I have is the latest colour screen 20 GB, and the battery lasts forever, and I am being a bit more careful about dropping it. It's one hell of a fine machine!

The Nano screens are exactly the same as the other late model screens, but the things are so small that people slip them into pockets and sit on them It's a big storm in a teacup!
