Paid but denied

Yesterday I bought a lifetime membership. I later received the following email.

Billing information
Membership type:Lifetime Full & Unlimited Access with 25% OFF! for a total of 22.46 $ USD
Pro Version Upgrade - Movie Codec Pack for a total of 14.95 $ USD
NetSpyProtector Option - Protect yourself from malware for a total of 9.88 $ USD

Grand total: 47.29 $ USD

For some reason, I did not receive the latest version. Trying to download it today, the Pro link keeps refusing me, telling me my emaill address \"is not a valid LimeWire PRO email.\" If I am not a Pro customer then why did I pay $14.95 for \"Pro version upgrade?\" A little help?

See Membership? - **WARNING ** BEWARE** - Download p2p Clients ONLY Thru Official Sites & then see get your $$$ BACK!!! (music members) If I were you I'd cancel the transaction asap with your credit card company. Explain to them it was a scam site.

A list of Known Scam Sites And btw codecs & spywares can be obtained for free as can limewire.

Computer Underadvantaged

Since I am somewhat "Computer Underadvantaged", how do I know for certain if a website is their "Official" website? I went to the first link that came up under a Google search, and that's where I purchased whatever it was I purchased. (BTW, I am pursuing getting my money back now, thank you.)

That is a problem because these scam sites pay to be listed by google in searches. Even on this forum which is sponsored by google, we have problems filtering out the scam adverts. It takes time to do. :(

But anyway the official LW site is here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

For free spywares that work properly with p2p sharing programs get these: 1. ad-ware (FREE), & 2. Spybot - Search & Destroy (FREE), & possibly this one also 3. Peerguardian (FREE)

For free codecs & players with "in-built" codecs such as VLC, see CODECs list and alternate players for Movies

Thank you

Thank you for your help. My isp has anti-virus and spamware stuff. Given that, is it likely I'd need to download other stuff? (BTW, I just printed the posts relating to the physical address and phone #s for these scumbags.)

Can you find the site on this list here?: Known Scam Sites If not, let us know & I'll add it to help others.

http://www.Download-It-Free.com I also see http://www.downloadzonefree.com/limewire2.html which I am guessing is the same or a similar bucket of scum.
