Computer Wont Burn Dvd's I Download!!! Please Help????

Hello Everyone!!

Can someone please help me???

Everytime i try and burn a dvd which i have downloaded, either the programme that i am using to burn it to disc closes and does nothing or my computer shuts down completely no matter what dvd programme i use!!! It's not a virus cause i have only just re-installed XP onto my computer thinking thats what the problem was, but the same thing is still happening.

So can anyone please help me out there with this problem????

Cheers

Did it occur to you that telling us more specific details might help. lol :D
Such as which burner program, what brand & model burner, what brand of disks (are they cd or dvd, are they dvd+/-, are they dvd R/RW), what types of video files (mpg, mpeg, avi, divx-avi, mov, wmv, rp, etc.)? What sizes are the video files? What speeds you're burning at? What steps you go thru in the process you're using? All these types of details will help someone to possibly find fault in your technique/set-up.

okay then, i am using the most up to date Nero which i think is version 6.6, i have also tried using another programme and it does the same after about 1-2 minutes.

The movie type of all the ones i have downloaded are all avi and the videos are all in the region of 700mb.

The model of my burner is a Pioneer 109, the discs are Datawrite's 16x, -R, but the problem doesnt get as far as burning to be this problem.

The processes that i am using with nero is as follows:

1. Make your own DVD-Video
2. Add video files
3. Look and select the download in my shared folder(which at this point everthing looks okay)
4. Go with the template that is already set which is 'Island' on Nero
5. I then have a sneak preview of the download and again everything looks okay, so i continue.
6. Check the burn options i.e. The device where its getting burnt to, the record speed settings and the volume name.
7. The i click 'BURN' and away we go!!! But it all goes wrong about a minute later.

So i dont think i am doing anything wrong really, but hopefully someone out there can help me please and advise me where i am going wrong or even suggest another programme to do the burning with!!!!

Or are there some sort of decoding i need to do before burning????

Cheers

Hi

Before you can burn your movies they have to be changed to a ts file. You will need a program to transfer them from avi. mpg, mpeg, a good program for this is DivxtoDVD all you need to do is open the program then the movie file. After that choose a location to put the ts file. After it is converted to the ts file you will have no problems with burning it to a dvd with nero. I am new here only used limewire for 4 days had the same problem at first then started reading some other forums on how to do it. Only thing i do different is I run the ts file through dvd shrink then it automatically burns through nero.

good luck:)

Nero will do all the conversion itself. Are you using burning rom? I only have version 5 so I can't tell you the difference. Nero 7 is the most recent version. Have you checked for Nero updates?

BTW those are not the most advised disks for the pioneer 109. Check the very bottom of the following page to see tests on disks & best ones to use: http://www.cdfreaks.com/article/204 I use a 109 myself. I also did a firmware upgrade! Very wise thing to do. It improves its performance & adds extra abilities. http://wwwbsc.pioneer.co.jp/product-...v00001r_e.html I'm using Revision: 1.57 at moment. I'll see what reports there are about 1.58 before I upgrade again.
