Default Lime Wire Messing With My PC

I am very surprised that since subscribing to and using Lime Wire, web browsing, in fact all tasks on my pc have become intolerably difficult.

Is this usual ? I experienced the same with programmes like Kazaa or Napster in the past but would have expected better from a file sharing service that I actually have paid for.

Am I asking too much to be running Lime Wire, ie downloading from other users AND expecting to be able to use my pc without trouble ? Does everyone experience the same ?

I'm running Windows XP and have a 2mb line if that helps. Any feedback welcome. Thanks.

My PC has crashed THREE times today. Is Lime Wire a con ? Can't believe I've bought this piece of junk that is now playing havoc with my PC. It's been a nightmare day !

My choices, try to get some support and rectify the problem. Hmm, I'd rather cut my losses now. Ready to uninstall the programme and take my loss of $30 or more. That's another thing ...the price starts mounting up as you proceed to join.

Some kind soul will now inform me that if I buy the PRO version all my problems will be solved.

Well Lime Wire can stuff it where the sun don't shine ...I've had enough ! WTF should I have to spend MY valuable time trawling through damned forums searching for a fix for this P.O.S. ??

LIME WIRE ...enjoy my $30 ....THIS IS THE LAST DOLLAR YOU'LL GET FROM THIS MUG ...

Groucho You have been scammed, and Limewire will not see a penny you have spent. I advise you to get onto your bank / Credit card company and stop the payment. You have been a victim of fraud Cancel your credit card to prevent further un authorised use. Clear the Limewire you have got on your computer together wi8thy all preference folders etc. Run a thorough check for viruses and spyware.

And if you are not put off the name of Limewire for life, download the free Limewire basic from http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

This thread touches on the subject of scamming

Only A Hobo, appreciate your reply and the links you posted for me - cheers pal.

I hadn't actually heard of Lime Wire until yesterday. I had been recommended to E Mule through a friend and had gone to the emule-downoading.com site which you mention as a scam site on another thread.

Unlike me to get scammed. I'll have a word with the bank tomorrow and hope they can do something about the payment, though I'm more worried that these *******s have my debit card details.

I'll have another look round this site and tread a little more carefully before downloading Lime Wire again. Anyway, will do so only after sorting out this mess.

PC seems fine now, but it's been an uncomfortable and irritating day. Thanks again !

Just to keep this forum updated.

My bank told me they were powerless to retrieve the funds, due to the fact that I had willingly agreed for the funds to be debited from my card online. However, they could take steps to retrieve funds should they be taken illegaly/unfairly in the future.

I then checked through everything on the website and read the T&C. I hadn't noticed before, but there was a seven day get out clause. So I rang the number in North America, told the customer support desk that I wasn't happy with the download and that it had screwed with my PC and they agreed to re-credit my debit card. I asked for an email confirmation, who I'd spoken to and how long it would take.

The money arrived back in my account today. Hopefully that is end of story and all ends happily ever after etc.

I tried the Lime Wire download once more via the link given to me on this thread, but my PC really doesn't like it, I'm getting PUPs etc and extremely poor and slow performance, both while online and even when not online !!

Perhaps the Pro paying version is the answer but I'm loathe to take the chance. Having my PC working to it's full capacity and without hitches is too valuable so I'm afraid I will have to live without Lime Wire.

Good luck.

GRoucho ... thanks for the update. Whatever your problem, Installing pro will not help it. I suggest you remove all vestiges of your scam Limewire, (mainy the programme and the preferences)..., remove all your bowser cashe, Delete all cookies run a complete virus and spywire check on your computer and once your computer is runung as it should, download the basic Limewire from www.limewire.com using the second (offline) installer.

Also please tell us a bit about your computer, ... mainly processor speed, RAM, and free space.

It is worth pointing out that using Limewire will slow your computer down to an extent, but unless you have limited resourses on your computer, this should not be "intallerable"
