Default Lime Wire Crashes!!!

Can anyone tell me why limewire sometimes crahes my computer? I'll be working with the program, and then suddenly for no reason, it will completely freeze my computer. I then have to cold boot the system! Is there a fix? I'm using Windows XP Pro, 3.2gig chip, 1 gig ram, 800mhz fsb, yada yada yada....

How much free space do you have and how many files are you sharing?

Does this happen after Limewire has been running for a long time?

Thanx for your reply.
I have a little over 176gb of free space...
Sharing approx 560 files at the moment...
No, it freezes at different times, sometimes after I've been searching and downloading for a few hours, and sometimes when i first start up the program and submit my first search. i have tried running the program without any other program running but this doesn't seem to help.

Well your specs all seem to be in order. I hope a windows expert will pick up on this as I use a Mac. I'm not really sure where the problem might lie. I just have vague memories of PCs crashing with far greater regularity than Macs

Have a look thrugh this thread.

I would be inclined to do a complete reinstall of Java after uninstalling Limewire along with it's preference folder
and then reinstall Limewire, both times using the downloaded installers.
This is explained in Fixes for Limewire in the second post.

There are other ideas in the post, and this seems to be fairly similar to your problem, so see if it helps.
