AFAIK that's a bug between LW's describe function & WMP that's been there for nearing a year. Yes it seems to corrupt the file re: WMP. But the file will still play in other players. Perhaps time to think of another player. Here's some suggestions for a backup audio player:

1. dBpowerAMP, - 2. WinAmp, - 3. Quintessential (QCD), - 4. iTunes

Oh & don't forget VLC can play many audio formats although it's fundamentally a video player.

BTW might I suggest you try removing them from WMP's playlist. Then try re-adding them & see if that works. I doubt it will but it's worth a try. Tell us how it goes.
