new guy needs help burning to cd

Can anyone tell me why songs i have downloaded from limewire wont burn to cd on windows media player? When I select start to burn the status changes from Read to burn to Inspecting and then nothing happens. Please help.

ronin4 January 23rd, 2006 09:59 AM

still got probs

Thanks for replying, i was starting to lose faith. I am selecting Audio cd. I dont know what m3u files are. How do i check the file type?
The songs all play on windows media player its just when i select burn that the status comes up "inspecting" and then nothing happens.
Thanks for your time, its appreciated.

wondering why January 24th, 2006 03:20 AM

Sounds like theres something missing...WMP inspects the files before it burns, so it can discard any corrupt files...
So Im not sure why it would be getting stuck on the inspecting....

Hopefully Sphinx may see this thread she uses WMP all the time..
I personally use itunes, its more user friendly and its a free download (hint hint ;) ).....

Thanks for your continuing help. The files are all appearing as mp3 in limewire search.
I did try the link to user guide but its no help.
I have found that if i use nero6 its burn ok but it doesnt transfer the names of song& artist. How could I get in touch with SPHINX myself directly.
PS- Do you know how to prevent downloading illegal porn? I downloaded something and it turned out to be child porn. Im really worried about that. I didnt know it was that so have i broken the law?

1) Use WMP 9x. NOT 10!
2) Nero 6 Express, data burns!
3) Burn MP3's as DATA files!
4) Install the XP codecs in WMP 9x. for video play.
5) Check file extensions, make sure they are infact MP3!
6) MU3's or whatever they are called IS playlist. DO NOT save your MP3 files as playlist extensions!!!
7) Make sure your MP3's are not corrupt. :)

If you renamed files as a playlist, they won't burn. For easy burns, remove songs from Limewire. In Windows XP make a 'my music' folder, copy & past all song files into this folder from your Limewire shared folder. On the left side of the new music folder, you can selelect 'play all' and it will upload all your music files into WMP.

The same for burning other data, you do not want to keep music/movie or game burns in your Limewire shared folder, move them, you can always move them back after the burn. :)

You can do this all right from your desktop in your c: drive in Windows.

Rita I hope I can help. Its been a very long time since I've used WMP. You have to create a burn list in WMP. Like a playlist. I think if I remember right, you click the burn tab and then generate the burn list. I hate WMP so I don't use it and its been a very long time since I've used it. Sorry if this doesn't help.

Follow the first part of the guide, where it tells you how to add music to your library.

Browse for the folder on your desktop.

C:\documents and settings\your user name\desktop

Hope this helps :)

Glad you found it. I'm not sure why your music would be in your start menu, but as long as you got it working...

Burning problems

Hi there. First off; Have you had success burning other tunes not fr. Limewire? Which ver. of media player do you have?
When downloading tunes, make sure you check which format they are; (mp3, wav, wma, mp4, etc.) You have to convert your files to be compatable for burning.
I dont` use my media player 11 for very much; I have other dedicated converting/burning software.
Thats about it with the info at hand. Good luck and enjoy!
