Hang when clearing files from downloads list

Hey,

Every time that I go to clear out files marked for downloads (they are usually "not enough sources", awaiting sources", etc.) Limewire hangs. The freeze time is longer if I clear out more files at once. It is unplausible to clear the files one at a time.

Also, this is only for files that have not been completed. Completed files can be removed with no freezing occurring.

Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

Are you using Limewire's "clear inactive" function, or doing it manually?

It sounds like you have too many files waiting to be downloaded. You'll have to experiment to find out what is the right amount for your system. Also the longer you have LW running the more cpu resources it will tend to use and it will slow down your cpu. You might need to shut down LW and restart it once in a while.

Ferral,

I am doing it manually. Even if there are only 5 files that I am clearing, there is still a noticeable hang.

It could also have to do with the way you have LW set up. If you haven't already, read through this thread for tips on setting up LW. A few things to consider while configuring Limewire for optimal performance...

Do the old Ctrl ALt Del and see how much resources your chewing.

There have been reports of some versions (primarily unofficial releases) that chew heaps of CPU cycles, which would account for your symptoms.

During the Hangs, LW uses btwn 80 - 100% of the CPU, then drops off to about 5-15% when running normally. Also, this is happening when I use the [Clear inactive] button as well.
