Icon Question

I have windows xp and use windows media player 10. Usually when I use Limewire the icon next to the song name is the windows media player icon, but this time when I got on it has a little white square with a blue music note. Why did it change? And can I still put music from Limewire to Windows media player?

somehow, you seem to have changed your default player. This thread should help you put it back to what it was. Let us know if you need more help.

I think LW now just uses their default icons for the different files.

the icon seems to be the audio icon for limewire. thats all it shows now is the limewire icons and not windows media player icons etc. It might cause problems because the last time I downloaded a song and played it in windows media player it had an error, -evedently it has an unsupported format or something- but if i cant see the audio type I wont know if I do that again. (since its the limewire icon and not another media players)

PS I didnt know where they were talking about clicking on the song and selecting 'play in'. I didnt see that when i right clicked on anything.

Bri-guy,

It doesn't matter if it has limewire's icons or not. When you launch the file it will launch in your default player. If you open your shared folder outside of LW, they will show your default player icons.

If the file won't play, maybe your missing the proper codecs. This thread should help: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=40665

Open up the folder outside of LW. The default location is C:\Documents and Settings\"your account name"\Shared. Right click on an audio file, then click "Properties", then where it says "opens with" click "change" then choose the player you want.

Hope this helped:).

Well, I restarted LW and my windows icons are back:confused:....but your files should still play as long as they are good files.

Just in case this helps someone, if in LW your file icons revert to the LW default icons, the fix is to delete the LW preferences folder. Instructions here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420
