If incomplete files show up in your search results, then ignore them. They're no good to you. Someone is being stupid sharing their incomplete folder. Only partial file sharing should be allowed. That allows you to downld portions of a file that might not be totally downlded by the person you're connected to. Allowing this helps speed up downlds for everyone.

thanks for your reply, but that's not quite what I meant. I meant, how (where) do I save my OWN incompleted files? I have two incomplete video files, and I can't seem to find sources to complete them, therefore I'd like to save at least the 75% that I have already downloaded - how does that work?

The incomplete files are stored in a folder called incomplete. Once they reach 100% downlded, LW then moves them to the downld folder (called Shared by default.) The incomplete folder should not normally be tampered with. LW looks after this by itself. The incomplete folder is generally one level up on the directory from the downld folder (shared.) Use your computer's search function to search for incomplete. The 2 files inside this folder called downloads.dat & downloads.bak are your downld preferences & without them, your % of downlding for each file will be lost.
