Default LimeWire Basic within Limited Account in XP Home

My friends insist that their twins log on as Limited Users on their XP Home PCs because all four of their PCs are on a network and they're concerned about security. I installed several programs for them from the Admin account and they all work fine within their Limited user account - except Limewire Basic. I suppose LimeWire is trying to access something that is not allowed within a Limited user account.

I've Googled all over the place as well as in this forum and have not found a definitive answer to how they can invoke LimeWire and download music from within a Limited account. Incidentally, the program works great within the Admin account. I did find some references to using the Run As feature in XP Home. Is this the best way?

The next time I visit them, I'd like to have the means of solving this problem so I don't have to keep disappointing them.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

EdP

I'm not the best one to answer this as I'm not an XP user & mostly use a mac not windows. But afaik, you can install LW in the admin account & use shortcuts for the other accounts. Their LW should default to their specific user accounts for saving, etc.

Thanks, LotR ..

I'm trying to recall all the things I tried the day I installed it and if I'm not mistaken, creating a shortcut was one of the things that didn't work.

However, I'll keep it in my bag o'tricks to try (with any other suggestions that crop up here) next time I'm at their place.

Another thought is setting up a folder with permissions for all to use via the Control panel. Then put the LW shortcut in there. Run another shortcut from that one to their specific user accounts. I don't know if that will make a difference of whether having a shortcut of a shortcut is a wise thing to do or will work. Perhaps copy the program itself. You can set up a permissions for specific users via the admin tools->computer management->... set up a folder with permissions for "All Users" or specific users. Just a thought. I did it once but can't remember specifically how I did the entire process.

admin tools->computer management->Shared folders->Shares & go to Action menu & choose new share file/folder. That's for windows 2k. But again .... I don't know if this process will help with your problem. It's just a thought.
