Limewire and systray

I cant minimize limewire to the systray, when i hit the X button on the window limewire just close, i have reinstall limewire and java many times, can anybody help me?

I'm not a main windows user, but i thought you click the - button to minimise it. And press X to close it.

JoanMex July 16th, 2006 10:59 AM

well I usually pressed the x button and Limewire used to minimize to tray but it just left doing that, the - button still minimizes Limewire but i want to know how to minimize it to a small icon next to the clock (that's the systray)

I don't know, is that related to your shutdown settings? LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>System Tray

JoanMex July 16th, 2006 01:15 PM

yeah i´ve already checked that and is ticked the option to minimize to tray which is the thing LW dont do anymore any suggestion?

It worked for me when I pressed the X button. Mine was already set to minimise

If all else fails, try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) But make a note of important settings. Next time you start LW, you'll need to reset your options. ;)

Try this http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...re+system+tray

hdemmon446 July 17th, 2006 07:12 PM

same problem

I just upgraded to 4.12.3 and im having the same problem with it not being able to minmize.. it just shuts the program down.. its not hiding either.. it completely shuts down, along with it not launching my windows media player!! Lets fix the bugs guys

I've just thought about it. Go and right click on your system tray (not pointing at anything special) then go to properties and then "Customize". Check whether LW is hiding when inactive (you need to have LW open to do so).
That could be the reason why you don't see it, though it might still be active working.

that never helped me....

hdemmon446 July 18th, 2006 11:00 AM

try again

Limewire shows that its running under task manager but when I go to the 'customize' it doesn't show that its a running program so I can't click on anything to make it show. Also when you click on the X to actually minimize it, because thats how I have it setup under my limewire preferences, it closes down completely.

All of this started when I d/l the latest version

Lord of the Rings July 18th, 2006 05:09 PM

I have the most recent version & LW does minimise correctly to the sys bar. That's why I suggested that perhaps your LW prefs are corrupt or else, something in your system configuration is not correct. Make sure you have the most recent Java.

Edit: See http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showpo...08&postcount=8 for those who want to jump back to 4.10 until another version comes out.

hdemmon446 July 18th, 2006 05:23 PM

ummm

Well, seeing as I've already reloaded the latest version of java and Limewire AND the fact that I'm not the only person having the EXACT same problems, I would tend to think its not with my computer or settings. Try again. But its not working.. when I rolled back to the old version 4.10 it fixed it

Keep trying though
