Problems since upgrade to 4.12

I recently upgraded to 4.12 from 4.10 and since then I keep getting Security Alerts from Norton (2005) saying the Internet Worm Protection has detected that a remote sytemis attempting to access my computer. I keep clicking Permit but another one pops up. The Remote address and Remote Port are different each time.
I have customized Norton to permit all access form limewire in my Norton Program Control.
I have a wall in front of my Globe on Limewire if that is relevant.
Do I need to have my Windows Firewall on aswell.
Please help.

I never got these alerts with 4.10 and I haven't changed any Firewall settings since then. The wall was infront of the globe with 4.10:confused:

I'm not sure, but try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) & also delete your previous Norton settings & reset the configurations of them whilst this version is on your computer.

Yeah, that happened to me, too. There's a mysterious file named _ that has the virus.

clintos July 19th, 2006 01:03 PM

What did you do to fix it?

NeuroticYours July 19th, 2006 01:10 PM

I just uninstalled it cause you can't delete the file.

I can't find a Preferences folder in the .limewire file

Did Limewire work ok when you reinstalled it?

Lord of the Rings July 19th, 2006 01:13 PM

See NorbiesWorld (click on link) & register there & he will help you to solve the problems. ie: eradicate the virii & get your system back to normal. He is offline at present but register there & follow his directions carefully & he will give you accurate directions.

If you can't find a folder called .limewire then see step 3 in those directions & look for limewire in the "hidden" folder called Application Data

Nope, did the exact same thing. LimeWire might need to fix it.

clintos July 19th, 2006 01:24 PM

Do you use anyother P2P programs?

NeuroticYours July 19th, 2006 01:27 PM

I can, just don't know any others.

symbple July 19th, 2006 02:59 PM

I am having the same problem!! Glad someone else is too.
Not sure how to fix it though?

Saturn822 July 19th, 2006 08:52 PM

I'm having the same problem too. If anyone finds a answer please post it.:(

That's an old Norton bug. Go into the controls for Norton and completely delete
the rules for Limewire then allow access again when Norton pops up.

clintos July 20th, 2006 01:34 PM

Thanks Aaron for the advice. I have a copy of Norton 06 so I uninstalled 05 put the new one in and reinstalled Limewire and it is fine now, fingers crossed!

Saturn822 July 20th, 2006 03:01 PM

That didn't help me. I'm running Norton AV 2005. Norton keeps poping up. Everything was fine with Limewire 4.10. When I upgraded to Limewire 4.12.3 the trouble began.:(

You sure it's just Norton? I use BitDefender and did the same thing. But for some reason, I reinstalled LimeWire and the file just disappeared.

Saturn822 July 20th, 2006 06:28 PM

I tried reinstalling Limewire 4.12.3 and I still have the same problem.:(
