problem opening limewire.exe please help
 

hi,
I have winXP. I had Limewire working perfectly on my computer last week. Just yesterday, the shortcut link on the desktop and the main link will not open. It will quickly give me the "wait" symbol then do absolutely nothing. I'm guessing that it is due to a windows update. I scanned for viruses, I've reinstalled limewire several times, restarting my computer, redownloading the installation file, turning off windowsXP firewall. I did just about everything, But I still can't get it to work. Anybody have any suggestions? :confused: Please help.

Could be a Java issue; you might want to try to uninstall LW and all your Java versions. Download the JRE offline installer of the newest version here:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
Install it, reboot and reinstall LW.

If that doesn't do the trick you might have to check whether any other protection program(spw/maleware) prevents LW from opening.

And as a last resort you could try to delete the Limewire preference folder as described here in Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire
