I'm not sure what you're talking about.....

Do you mean that you go to your shared folder using Windows Explorer and when trying to open it, your computer crashes?
Or do you mean that you try to go via the LW Library to the shared folder?

If it is the first one, and it would be my computer, I would check first whether I caught a virus with the last file(s) downloaded; though I don't want to scare you........just a thought of mine.....

no the folder crashes

BAMF July 23rd, 2006 09:14 AM

format computer and is still doing it

foolofthehill July 23rd, 2006 09:17 AM

Try to search for one file in that folder via START>Search>Files and Folders.
When it gets displayed in the search results right click it and choose "open containing folder"

If this also causes a crash, go over that folder with any Antivirus/Spyware/Maleware program you can get a hand on.

BAMF July 23rd, 2006 11:22 AM

I got it off the offical website and it is basic

AaronWalkhouse July 23rd, 2006 11:39 AM

Step by step, tell us exactly how you make that folder "crash". We need to
know exactly which part of the operating system or which software you are
using when that happens.

BAMF July 23rd, 2006 11:45 AM

In windows explorer i go to limewire download folder and open it and 5 to 10 sec. later windows tells me it needs to close it and i must click ok and it close it . i have try formating my HD. because i thought i had a virus, and installed windows XP sp2,and limewire again and it is still doing it.

AaronWalkhouse July 23rd, 2006 01:54 PM

So, that folder is completely empty now, assuming you have downloaded
nothing since you formatted the disk. The only possible answer seems to be a worm.

Was LimeWire running at the same time?

BAMF July 23rd, 2006 03:01 PM

No i download a movie ,if i just have music or a program it will not do it
only when i have moives in it that it will do itand if i share other files folders
that have movies in it they will start todo the same thing.any folder that has movies in that i put to share on limewire will start having windows telling me that for security it needs to close the folder and i have to click ok and it gone.

BAMF July 23rd, 2006 03:03 PM

And limewire can be runing or not it the same.

AaronWalkhouse July 23rd, 2006 03:20 PM

Don't click OK. You don't have to. Not yet.
  1. Hold down the Alt key and press the Print Screen key instead.
  2. Then open Paint or any other graphics program and
  3. paste the image into it and
  4. save it as a jpg file.
  5. Reply to this message and
  6. press the Go Advanced button below the message box
  7. Press the Manage Attachments button (a small window will open)
  8. upload the jpg picture.
  9. close that small window and
  10. press Submit Reply.

AaronWalkhouse July 23rd, 2006 03:30 PM

Follow the instructions when that error message pops up and you will be
creating a new jpg file showing us the error message. Once we can see what is
really going on we are a step closer to a solution.

wondering why July 23rd, 2006 05:04 PM

Maybe it's a bad file, this has happened to my shared folder before and it always seems to be with a movie file...
I think you need to find the file and delete it off your system..
I have a Divx file that I just downloaded yesterday and for the life of me I cant get dvdsanta to burn it, it keeps popping up with santa needs to close, yet other files burn fine...
It's just one of those things...
