Default Trojans on files I haven`t DL`d..

I just started using Limewire (V4.12.4). My downloading is going fine so far but then Avast starts detecting TROJANs on all these files that i havent downloaded or even searched for! Also, its finding them in a folder within my `downloads` folder that i can`t see. I tried searching the folder for the files as they come up but nothing. WHAT are these things? Where did they come from and how do i stop them getting in all the time?

Please help..
Thanks

You have a worm and it is creating those files. You probably got it from a program you downloaded and tried earlier. Reboot into safe mode and scan with Avast again.

Thanks! I done exactly what u said and Avast then performed a `boot-time` scan and came up with 3 win32:jeefo infections in SystemVolumeInformation on my other hard drive. Would the jeefo thingy be a likely culprit?

Much thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Sounds like a likely culprit. Try moving all that's good out of the download folder
and delete the whole folder (with Limewire shut down). Hopefully that will get
rid of any invisible leftovers too.

Now i`m getting this flaming message replacing my windows backdrop "Your computer is in danger! Windows Security Centre has detected spyware/adware etc etc.."! And the same message on the system tray thingy. I`ve looked up on google and seen so many `solutions` i dunno where to start! Is this the same thing as the worm?

Cheers.

As Aaron may not be back for a few days, I would suggest you go to Norbiesworld as he will help you rid your computer of this...
This is the link to his site...

Things went well. Looks like very little downtime for me.

If you got a message on your desktop background you have already been
invaded and the invader is trying to sell you it's bogus "cure".

Norbie has undoubtedly got your solution. This one has been around for awhile.
