Limewire slowing computer

I have use limewire on all my computers and i just got a brand new HP computer. When i download limewire i believe i may have done something wrong. When ever i run the program my computer overloads and lows down alot. When i shut it down my computer goes back to normal. I tryed reinstalling the software and it still didn't work. Help please
