Limewire's being blocked from running. can anyone help?? Does anyone know how to fix Limewire when it says "Limewire was unable to intialize and start. This is usually due to a firewall program blocking Limewire's access to the internet or loopback connections on the local machine. Please allow Limewire access to the internet and resart Limewire." I can't figure out whats blocking it. Does anyone know what to do???? |
Double check that you're only using 1 software firewall & that it's configured properly Firewall setup Otherwise, try removing your current Java version & reinstalling JRE using the offline installer. Point 1 below. Also try deleting the preferences folder when LW's closed, points 2 & 3 below. Fixes for LimeWire If this doesn't help, check that it's not a firewall within your modem/router causing trouble. Double check your UPnP or port forwarding setup. Connection problems? Check here first! |

What security programs are you using? If you're using Norton's Internet Worm Protection, make sure that you add LW to the list of exceptions. |
I am having problems with Norton's Internet Worm Protection. LW is in my list of exceptions. Any idea's ?? |
I got Nortin Anti-Virus... and i disabled it and i still got the same message and i don't have any other programs with a firewall ..Do u know of any other programs that may be blocking it?? is there anyway to detect which program is blocking it?? i've tryed reinstalling LimeWire and i've also tryed downloading Frostwire and i still get the same message.!. |
i've the same problem but i don't see any message, LW doesn't run when i double click on the icon...... but i haven't tried to sclose norton yet.. |
Open Your Norton Anti virus and go to options On the left hand side of of the box click Internet Worm Protection. Click Program control button and remove any references to LW, close then restart LW Click permit the first time it comes up and it should be working ok. I only know this as the remedy was in another thread on this site http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...orm+protection Good Luck G |
Another problem that's been recognised with Norton is its NPF. See about that here Reconfiguring Norton Firewall which sometimes happens after updating LW. |
