LimeWire Connection not Sticking

Hi all,

My LimeWire connection does not stick and is not stable, in the connection bar (bottom left hand corner of console) the connection indicator keeps dropping to 3 bars then goes up for around 30 secs then drops to 3 bars again and so on and on!
I have upgraded to the newer versions twice recently as this was happening in the older version and thought that may solve the problem.
I have upto 8mb Broadband, WinXp and running McAffee Anti-Virus with the standard Windows Firewall, but don't have any problem with downloads well only when the connection bar drops then so do the downloading files.
What can the problem be? does anyone else experience this?
I've also contacted my ISP and there are no issues or connection problems with my line.

LimeWire older version (can't remember what version) the one before last
I did not have this problem, it was solid as a rock, so it was since upgrading these last 2 times (if all that makes sense)
Help!!!!!

I also have another problem that is very annoying!!
The whole LimeWire console freezes, i have to shut the whole thing down and restart it, it says that it's connected but you cannot select disconnect, the searching bars stop, the downloads or uploads have download speeds and times next to them but don't move, it's like the whole thing is on pause!
Anybody know about this problem?

There are two things that come to my mind; the first thing is a standard procedure and aims at eliminating a possible preference folder corruption.
Try to delete the "LimeWire" folder in your hidden Application data folder when LW is completely closed as described in Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (maybe look also for the old " .limewire " preference folder and delete this as well):

The second thing would point to update your Java using the JRE offline installer from here:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
Before doing so, you should uninstall all other Java versions you have presently on your system. After installing you should reboot before opening LW.

Edit:
Here is a link that talks about freezing fo LW:
