Music Read Error :S

Ok well, ive had limewire for a longtime.
Just formatted my computer last week and have reinstalled limewire.
Ive set a directory for limewire to send all downloaded files too there is no issue there. I started to replace some music files i had lost and i can play them through limewire and other programs so long as they remain in the folder to which they have loaded through.

I initially sent files to a music folder with other music i have but these files can no longer be read by any program. And i cant move them back to the dowload file as it comes up with a error.

Any suggestions as to why this is happening?
Especially welcome you thoughts on fixing this issue.

Are you using WMP to play them? WMP has a bug with compressed id3 tag headers (it can't read them - unlike most audio players.!) So if you used the LW Describe function on any files, WMP won't be able to read those files.

Not sure why you can't move them back. What you could do is Share that other music folder. Then play them with LW's media player. How to Share Folders (click on link)

i am downloading to C:\LimeWireDownloads and tranfering files to C:\Music
I use winamp for music and like i said from origional download file there is no problem. from the music file i cant listen to it any longer, then the error comes up when i try moving it again.

Error access denied Make sure that file is not full or write protected.

I will attempt now to share the folder, will report back in 5 minutes.

Ok i have shared the folder, limwire cannot open file directory does not exist.
I created a new folder within the download folder and put a song in it. Limewire has the same error for that song as well.
File Cannot be found.
C:\LimeWireDownload\Song with a song in the folder doesnt work
however i tested the song in just c:\LimeWireDownload and the song worked fine.

This is shocking. I know a thing or two about computers and this shouldnt be happening.
My bet is to delete both folders and limewire and start again from reinstallation but then again i dont see how it will help if it occures again.

Umm ... C:\LimeWireDownloads is not in your user account. I'm wondering if there's a permissions issue there. Normally the default location to have downlds is C:\Documents and Settings\"your account name"\Shared

If you want quick access to your downlds then a short-cut is the trick or within LW's Library use the Explore button.

Changing the downld location might be something to try. ;)

good point my bad --> E:\LW Downloads is used for my download to file.

but i dont see how it changes the errors im receiving.
ill try to download to a new folder and see if same errors occure.

ok here is the deal.

I created a new folder for download to.

I changed limewire to download to this file.

I downloaded a song ************
It plays fine in the folder and limewire.

I copied and pastde it into a new music2 folder
it played fine.

I went back to the origional tried cut and paste.
the file in music2 didnt work after cut and paste.
The origional copy and paste did.

But i dont think i need to go through and copy and paste every song and then delete the origional everytime i move music from download folder to another. There has to be some issue here.

EDIT:
With that copy and paste file, just moved it from the \music2 folder into the \music2\acdc folder and it doesnt play.

there is definatly something at work here

You could take a look here:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=320081

Another thing what came to my mind is that the file you try to cut is still used by LW. Did you try to cut and paste after LW was shut down completely??

Also, your explanations in regard to "from folder to folder" is not very precise. Where is/was the original folder located? Where was/is the folder you paste it in? Where was/is the folder you tried to cut and paste it to?

As to the file itself, did you check on the sharing option via right-click>Properties>Sharing??

This is just a stab in the dark it sounds like the extension type or the properties of the file are being changed. Right click on the file and see what the properties are check the advanced settings and make sure the files are not being encrypted or saved as read only.
