Limewire starts up all the time

My brother downloaded Limewire Pro off Limewire Basic, and ever since he did that Limewire has only been causing problems for me!
Everytime I log on my user on Windows XP, Limewire starts up, even though I have unchecked the box that says it not to!
And now, Limewire starts up all the time. Without reason. Its really annoying!
What can I do to fix it?

Sounds like a virus.....read here:

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=41432

Here some links for good protection:
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/(free)

http://www.grisoft.com(good free AVG)

http://www.ewido.com(free trial which can still be used and updated after the period has ended -the best in my opinion)

http://www.ccleaner.com/download/(free)

Spybot - Search & Destroy (FREE)

If you can't get rid of it go here and get some free computer help:

Well that's what you get when trying to downld wares, a virus. Learn a lesson. I'd recommend going to Norbie's site, registering & follow his directions very carefully so he can help you remove the virus & get your system back to normal; NorbiesWorld (click on link). And dump the pro wares version you got. After all, are you (your brother) really so miserly you can't support the continuation of the software. Without Pro there would be no LimeWire.

Well, it wasn't me that downloaded the Pro version! My brother did. Without permission. ><

I don't know if this helps, but when you close Limewire check on your system tray to see if the lime icon is gone too. If you see it, rightclick and exit

Limewire keeps dowloading its installer on every start

Hi All,

Am not conversant with writing on Forums and hope I am writing on the correct thread. Never the less...

I have observed that everytime I start LW, it downloads its own installer file into "H:\Documents and Settings\Ronni\.limewire\.NetworkShare"
This as I understand are the installer stubs... and results in wasting my bandwidth everytime

I presently use 'LW 4.12.6 Pro'

Thanx,
Ronni

erm ... that's a contradiction in terms. LW Pro does not share stubs. Only LW basic does that. It is supposed to help speed up people updating their LW.

If you're using LW Pro then you won't have to think about it anymore.

Mariia,

Hey, I've been using Limewire BASIC for over a year now. I've never had a problem with it before. But now it's doing just as your computer is. It always starts on it's own. EVEN WHEN IT'S CURRENTLY ON!!! I don't know why. I'm posting this so others will know it's not some random wierd virus. I'm going to try to contact limewire and see what I can do. If I learn something that will help. I'll let you know :)

see ya.....
