Java is generally the root of all evil for problems in some way or another! lol :D Seriously, java is the reknown internet design medium but it does have its problems. I should hope you're using at least Java 1.5

BTW why not try try adding the external drives in part. Not from the root level & not from the main folders. Add them from the sub-folders within so you're adding them bit by bit. It may take a while but it seems it may be overwhelming LW as it is. Start with one of the smaller content folders. If that adds ok, then add more folders. This may even mean you need to separate some of the files into sub-folders if you have too many files in each folder. Start with adding a folder with just a small no. then work your way up.

Mr. Peanut

It could be that you are asking LW to do too much, i.e. having multiple shared folders on different drives, although this is theoretically possible it could be straining resources on your PC.

May I suggest the following in windows explorer:

1) Only have one shared and one incomplete folder but have them on one of your external drives only, e.g. the Lacie 500GB.

2) Create named sub-folders under the main shared folder, that way LW will see primarily only one shared and one incomplete folder.

3) Copy and paste all files into your new shared folder, at this stage you can also copy and paste MP3s, video files, etc, into the named sub-folders as well.

4) Run LW and use Open > Tools > Sharing and update LW accordingly.

Remember that you are replacing your "Shared" folder on your C:\ drive with a "shared" folder on an external drive, and not adding additional shared folders.

This, hopefully, should now work (as it did for me).

Are you by any chance trying to share all 10000 files at the same time ?

I have a feeling that this could very well freeze up Limewire. It will need to hash all those files. I remember adding 3000 once and it made my PC useless for more than an hour.

try just adding some small folder on that drive and see if that works. Maybe like 10-20 songs

When I click the Add button, the computer freezes. I don't even get the opportunity to choose a drive or folder. UKBOBBY...you're saying remove the default shared folder first (before I try clicking "Add")? I haven't tried that yet.

Nobody has added to this thread in 6 days. I'm running out of ideas here! Come on...there has to be somebody that knows how to solve this stupid problem!

You can remove folders & choose files to be unshared via the LW Library window. Right-click the folder or file & choose to share or not share. If they aren't being shared they will be red in colour. That's the 1st part. After all folders are unshared, then you can do as suggested by the others. ;)
