From what I know, It's Roxio and/or Media player.
Please let me know something if possible..... I have no problems downloading movies that are mov. mpeg. files, but I can't even view avi files. Avi files just play back the audio without the window that contains the footage. I just want to know how to save the movie files on my computer to burn, I really don't care about the avi files not playing.....
Thank you for you time.....

What you need to do is convert your movie files into dvd format so you can burn them onto the disk...I'm not familiar with Roxio, so I cant give you advice on how to use that...
But you could convert them using Super and then place them into Roxio to burn....(I think)...
I use either Nero or dvdsanta, personally I think dvdsanta is the easiest to use especially when you are just starting out as it converts, joins files and burns in really easy steps...
Avi files are one of the best, be careful with the mov files as they can be dangerous....

With previewing files get the VLC player as it has all the codecs for you to be able to veiw your files on your comp...

Here are some links to downloads to get you started...
http://www.erightsoft.com/home.html Link to Super
http://www.dvdsanta.com

This thread will give you advice on the codecs you need to veiw your files...
The VLC link is in there also...

The LW Playlist function is "only" intended for audio files, not for video files. The LW media player is simply an audio player.

If you have the most recent Roxio version, it will convert the video files just the same as Nero does. But you need to check the settings to be sure it encodes at the right size & not too high an overall bit rate. Always do audio in dolby surround (ac-3) format otherwise the bit rate will be too high & your dvd will have problems playing.

I have the mac version roxio & it's very good. My version of roxio for windows is quite old. lol :D

As WW recommended, for previewing get VLC - (click on link) _ (choose nearest mirror site) as it is very reliable for video playback & has in-built codecs & will play all avi files. ;)
