Limewire slowing down computer

about 2 months ago LW starting acting weird. It almosts locks up everything and it still works and downloads great....But I have to click......wait....click...drag.....wait...etc..et c.. I have not changed anything on my setup and can not figure out why it is acting so slow. Like I said the downloads are fine....But the program locks up then resumes..etc..
Thanx for any support you can give

LW uses a lot of system resources, and can malfunction when mutliple programs that also slow down your CPU are running at once, try running as little programs as possible in conjunction with LW.

Hmmmmm...You mean it uses more than 3D Studio, AUtocad, Photoshop all together...I think not.....I have plenty of resources and etc..etc....It has to be something else.....I have left it running with only it running overnight with the same result. Could it be something in the network....Perhaps a Firebox.....Thanx

And really all we need is a downloader...not a player....So the program should be very simple and resource effiecient I should think

CPU usage

It is hard to tell if it is caused by a virus or what -I do have Avast AV system - but since moving from 4.10 to 4.12 my cpu usage has increased astronomically to the rate that virtually nothing works , or takes an inordinate amount of time to call up and run programs.
Even with nothing else working cpu usage is 100% - there are and always have been a lot of programs resident in the system tray - but 4.10 did not affect the cpu useage like this one.
When I upgraded to 4.12 - had this problem - uninstalled and system was fine
Re-installed and it woked okay for 2 days and now we are back to whistling while programs are working between keystrokes.

What to do?

Yeah...I am so confused by all this......It's like AutoCAD.....come out with a new version that is really overdesigned for what we need. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and even download the pro version and tried that and nothing......same thing...It works fine at home...Same setup...So it may be my computer but nothing has changed except me upgrading.......I guess we will fix it with the next version
