I'm not sure where you are seeing this list. If it is in the search pane(on the right) then you right click on the blue bar with the numbers in and a red cross and seect "close search". You can also click on the red cross but that doesn't always work for me.

If you select back to search a new blank screen will start up when you press search and then fill up with new results. You can flick between two or more sets of results by clicking on the appropriate blue bar at the top (if you haven't closed them as I suggested earlier.

History is cleared each time you shut down Limewire, and is afaik refers just to the autocomplete suggestions that come up when autocomplete is enabled and you start to type in something already searched in the current session.
