I've never seen so many idiots in one place!

Has it EVER occured to most of you seeking help, that it MIGHT be helpful if you post a DESCRIPTIVE question? It wouldn't hurt to explain as much as possible in your first post to avoid all the unneccessary guessing as to what YOUR problem is.

Here is a perfect example: "Why are my downloads so slow?"

Ummm, did it ever cross your minds that it may help if you tell everyone what version of the software you're running, what operating system, your modem speed!!!, your ISP, etc, etc, etc...? Just by the very nature of how the Internet operates, a network engineering guru could have trouble answering that question if he was sitting at your computer!

Some of us come here looking for solutions, but are forced to sift through volumes of crap going back and forth between people who don't have a clue.

Miss Cleo wouldn't be able to get useful information out of you goofballs!

Thanks for listening, I feel better now.

whoa, kath, you ARE the coolest! thanks for being so...and telling that person off!! you are absolutely right! it is exactly the mentality of that person that makes it harder for some of us...let us know what info to provide and we will do it!!! if we plan to help anybody in this lifetime, we must always be patient!!!

Not so bad

Although he/she was a little rude, he/she made a good point about some, not most or all, of the posts that have been put up with very vauge discriptions. The last three I read have been that way. And he/she did mention at the end that the post was just to blow off some steam. Kath, I know you're just trying to help keep us kids in line, but I don't think he was looking for a response. I feel just as strongly about the improper tone of many messages, I have a few posts that say basically the same thing you did flying around here someplace, but I think this person knew they were a little out of line already, and didn't need the reminder. I appologize for any insulting tone that has come accross in this post, I assure you, none was intended.

P.S. Thanks for smiling as always Kath, it makes us all just a little happier. (no sarcasm intended)

Actually I did understand how LW works aswell as general networking and Windows 98 / 2000 in general .

So I don't think I classify as one of those "idiots" .

In fact I've helped more people already then asked questions ...
And this is like my 15t post !

Eheh... Thank you (maybe after all it is better to show only the little one; it seems that it makes me look better :D ).

Let me know about a picture of you.

Greetings,

If we had a clue, we wouldn't need your help, lol

for real though. it's not hard at all for the newbies to read a little before posting. when i first start with something, i read as much as possible to learn up on things. then i ask well informed / descriptive questions when i need to.

there's so much on the net to read about gnutella at forums, faqs, etc. etc. it borders almost on laziness.
