im new to limewire

HI from melbourne australia. Basically l have a couple of questions to ask about limewire. Firstly l want to ask im pretty new to limewire, and this whole file sharing thing, but l wanted to ask (and l don't know if l have the right section, yet im hoping for an answer) that im seriously considering paying for limewire pro, but l just want to be clear l think its $18.98, but is that just a one off payment, or do you have to keep on paying, because if its a one off payment it sounds pretty allright to me, but if you have to keep paying all the time, l most likely won't be interested. l'd just like some clarification on this, and how much in australian dollars would that work out to be.

My second question is that some of my friends have been using limewire and to be honest l have no idea if they payed for it or not but they've told me that they've downloaded some games, or movies, or movie clips, and it doesn't play when they press launch/play. Now to be honest l don't know if they've payed for their limewire or not, l dont see them that often anyway, but if l were to pay for limewire pro as l mentioned above, would l be safe from expeiencing problems in downloading and playing or setting up limewire.
And also it sais on the limewire website that it has NO BUNDLED SOFTWARE, does that mean that you won't encounter problems downloading and playing, or setting up the files that you have downloaded, im guessing that means everything will run smoothly. So basically to sum it up if l pay (hopefully its a one off payment) for limewire l should get good results).

My final question is im aware some people use file sharing programs without paying for them, but im just wondering if you guys know any totally FREE FILE SHARING PROGRAMS, l mean the only other one is bit torrent, in which l wanted to ask how does limewire compare to bit torrent in your view, is it just different, better, etc.

i'd be very grateful for a detailed answer to my queries.
thanks alot
bye
take care

1. LimeWire (LW) is free. The Basic version is free. 2. The pro version is $18.88 US which is about $24.91 AUD. See http://www.oanda.com/convert/classic

3. Always start with LW Basic, & if you like it then consider getting pro. Many people consider pro as more of a donation toward the future development of the program. Pro does not give you any special advantages. It does connect to 5 peers instead of 3 which gives better search results for "rarer" files, but for common ones is about the same. It will allow each file to connect to 10 hosts instead of 8 for basic for downloading. Unless you're running a T3 speed when both will be slightly more. Pro is best for high speed connections.

4. Quality of what you download is what you select to download. Look at the Stickies all around the forums for tips about this. And problems with applying the downloads is up to the user & their skills & their software. Videos that don't play are up to user set up for video converting/burning. As long as they checked the files play on computer beforehand.

BTW I'm from the same city. Are you from balaclava or nearby?

Hi again, l still have a few questions

Hi, thanks for your answer, but l'm still not sure about something, l want to know that if l were to pay for limewire pro, would/should everything run smoothly, if l were to download movie clips, movies, games, etc, l guess im coming from the point of view that if l were to pay for it downloading and installing/or playing should be okay, or am l wrong do people who pay for limewire pro, as opposed to normal limewire still experience problems.
Secondly what about this no bundled software advertisement, please explain that? Does it mean the latest version of limewire pro have no problems etc.
And finally would you know of any media player for windows xp that would/or will play most things? (perhaps that question doesn't relate to limewire) but if you know l'd really appreciate it.

P.S. sorry for all the questions, l just need to know.
all the best
bye

Buying Pro isn't going to guarantee that all games you download will work, or that all movies you download will play. The network is what it is...the fake/misnamed/infected files are there & buying Pro can't make them disappear. You'll still have to be careful of what you download & scan all files with your AV before opening.

There is no bundled software with Pro - no extras. Some scam sites sell Pro plus antispyware, accelorators etc. Some scam versions of Pro might contain malware. The official Pro (just like the official basic) is free of malware. It's clean.

My choice for playing video files is VLC (free). It has codecs installed & will play most file types. It'll play music files too. If you'd like to try it, check out the link below. Choose the nearest mirror site for download

For music I use iTunes. Winamp's good, it's personal choice really...there are a few good players around! If you use the forum search, you'll probably find a heap of threads with other peoples opinions

You should really try the basic version for a while I think, before going to Pro. Get to know how everything works. There's no refund if you buy Pro & don't like it.
