Default Unable to Stop Uploads

I have disabled LimeWire, but it continues to upload about 20 files at 50 kb/s which I think is interfering with the speed of my internet cable connection. It seems much slower ever since I installed LimeWire. How do I stop this so I can see if this is my problem???

Within LW tools > options > system tray. From there you can change whether LW shuts down immediately or after transfers have finished (click Apply to save a change). Try shutting down immediately & see if the uploads stop.

Thanks birdy. I went to tools/options/uploads/slots and turned max uploads to zero. My connectivity is now back to lightening fast.

Thanx

flyhigh,

You really should share some files with the network that you've downloaded from. This is a file sharing community and if no one shared then there wouldn't be anyone to download from.

So may I suggest you go back and set your upload slots to 7 and then go to Tools>Options>Uploads>Basic, and set the bandwidth slider to about 35KB/s then click apply. That way you'll still be sharing but not so much that it slows down your internet connection. You can adjust it to suit your needs but that should be a good starting place .

Not sharing at all makes you a freeloader/leach. An ugly label that we try to avoid .

I hear ya pac. I turned slots to zero just to see if that was the reason my connectivity was so slow. Turns out it was. Now I can adjust my options. Dont intend to be a "leach". Thanks for the suggested bandwidth and slot level.
