Flashing Before My Eyes Hi all. Been lurking and reading for a couple of weeks now, and this is my first post. Let me first say that this foum has been FANTASTIC. I have learned so much! My download (and upload!) speeds have soared, and I run as an Ultrapeer over 90% of the time. Nice! :D Now, for my question... I have noticed that Limewire does funky things. For example, my display will blink and flash every once in a while. Also, sometimes my mouse will skitz on me while trying to perform basic operations in Limewire. So far, it's the only program that gives me this kind of grief. What the... ??? I have specs in my profile, but for purposes of this post: PC: HP Pavillion dv5117d Notebook, 1.8GHz AMD, 1GB RAM, XP Pro (completely updated), ATI Radeon XPress 200M Connection: AT&T DSL (no connection probs) LW Version: 4.12.6 (latest) Java Version: 1.5 Thanks all! |
See if any of the threads below help (mouse probs are often Java related) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...light=blinking http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...light=blinking http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...light=blinking http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...light=flashing |
Ok, so you gotta search for "blinking" instead of "flashing". That's so odd. I'm running the latest and greatest version of Java. I know because I just installed the latest JRE not too long ago. (I program in Java.) Bizarre... Thanks for the links, B. :D I got some ideas on some stuff I can tweak in XP. We'll see if that fixes it. |
Best Performance! (A Followup) Just letting you know that I found something in those thread links that fixed my problem. I chose the best performance option, and voila! No more blinking! Java is just nutty sometimes. I really like it though. I have kicked out some really killer code in the class I'm in now, Java part 2. I have glanced at some of the programming docs for Limewire. After this semester is over and I really have a good handle on Java, I'd really like to dig in the docs some more and really learn about Limewire's structure. At any rate, I'm so happy to have that icky little problem fixed. Now I'm off to do firewall research. Keep getting the brick wall for a few minutes after I fire Limewire up. It's messing up my Ultrapeer status. GRRR!!! But that's a different adventure for another thread... :ilzu: Again, MUCH thanks! |
