The question is whether you've followed the installation advice here in the forum to the point.....:
Uninstall LW and all Java versions on your system. Reboot and then download the JRE offline installer of the newest Java version from here:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
Install it and reboot again, then reinstall LW.

If you did and there is still no change, then it could also be that one of your security program installed prevents LW from completely opening....
Just include LW (while being closed) into the exeption lists of your security programs.....that might help.....
