Default Trouble trying to remove trash songs from shared folder in the library

Limewire's been working pretty good for me, BUT somehow I have two songs that are stuck in my shared folder and refuse to be deleted. The two songs that are stuck are trash, the computer keeps saying that the two files are being used elsewhere-- I don't what other program could be using them. Anybody know how I can get rid of the trash--speak laymen terms, I don't know how to use my computer very well. Thanks for any help

Default Try this

Hi

I always delete or change files on my Hard Drive 'C:' when LimeWire isn't running. I find this the most effective way.

The files you are sharing are stored by default in:-

C:\Program Files\LimeWire\Shared

This is where all your files are downloaded to. The library is just a reflection of what is in 'Shared'. They are not on LimeWire!

So don't delete any songs from your 'Library' that you just want out of there, because you will delete them completely off your system.

Does that make sense

Good Luck

KathW- you are my new computer limewire guru! Thanks for the help, it worked. I've got one more if you can help was again. This is just more of a question-- I have a song that is in the Shared Folder and I can't click and drag the song to one of the other folders I created--Is it that once I launch a song from the shared folder it is stuck in the folder for good? Thanks for the input.

Default No guru

Hey - I'm no guru as you will see from this answer.

I'm thinking that you are using a new version 1.8 or 1.9 and I use 1.7. So I don't know what changes there have been if any, to cause this.

I'm not one for lots of sub-folders, I tend to use playlists and keep all my songs in one folder, so I don't move them around.

But I can't see why you can't move things around as you want.

Maybe try - On hard drive - -- copy / paste into new folder then delete from old folder - try that.

I seem to remember having some trouble with a file once that wouldn't delete or 'something' and I had remove it from my player to do it. But I have a separate player and it's easy to do that in mine.

------
I've just been away to check out my player MusicMatch and what happens when you move things to new folders.

As I thought - when you move files to another location - then go and try to play it in your player - it can't find it 'cos you moved it. The path to that song has changed.

I think maybe there is some kind of safety feature and because the song is in your player, it won't move it because the path will change and then it won't play. You will have to delete it out of your player I think, before you can move it. *Not delete from library*

That's the best I can guess without knowing how it actually works.

Good Luck

Default I forgot

If you Register, it's much easier to use the forum and we can identify when people are on the board. Plus you can send people Private Messages and ask questions directly of any other person who is Registered.

Like now - I would like to know if you are still on the board - but I can't tell 'cos your not Registered!! I don't know whether to hang around to see if you managed to sort the problem, or go offline now 'cos you ain't gonna answer yet.

God, I'm talking a lot of tosh tonight
