program will not launch anymore
 

As soon as I start Limewire, I get the Windows Error Message... Limewire has ancountered a problem and needs to close. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the program (even installing it on a different hard drive on this machine) but I still get the same message. The only change I can think of that I made to my system since the last time I used Limewaire is the fact that I upgraded to IE7 and Firefox 2 (full releases - not betas). Is there a problem with IE7 or Firefox 2 and Limewire basic 4.12.6? If this is not the problem, how do I get this fixed. I already tried shutting down all processes that were listed under my user name in Task Manager. PLEASE HELP! Thanks.

I think there was a Java update installed (I have it set to automatically update) since the last time I used Limewire as well. My current version is Java 2 Platform Standard Edition Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_09-b03).

Try removing all the Java versions using your Add/Remove control panel, & then reinstalling but using only the "Offline" installer which is about 15 MB; http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Also delete your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)
