Problem with uninstalling.

I keep getting this problem were every time I try to get rid of limewire I get this pop up saying, "One or more necessary files apear to be invalid" and so on. It tells me to re-install limewire and it should work out, but the problem keeps on persisting and the pop up won't go away. So I came here for peoples help, please help me with this problem, its driving me nuts!

P.s. If this is in the wrong place I am very sorry but I don't have the time to look for the right place or look through all the posts made.

It sounds to me like you used the Add/Remove control panel to attempt to uninstall LW. That's not the way to do it at al & will cause problems. The normal way is to go to the Start menu > Programs > LimeWire > Uninstall.

Yes I have done that, but the problem still carries on.:(

Go to the program folder & see if the uninstaller still exists & see if it will work.

Did you attempt to reinstall?

It doesn't exist no more and yes.

Similar but slightly different problem here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ight=uninstall

You can't uninstall & can't re-install. That is a dilemna. I'll open my windows & see what options there might be. It could take some time.

Download this utility & use it to try to clean up the system & registry: Crap Cleaner

Delete the LW preferences folder as described in points 2 & 3 here Fixes for Limewire

If you were wanting to reinstall LW, then try again to install after doing the above.

Uninstalling

We tried to uninstall limewire and now we get a pop-up box stating that it is invalid. I tried to use the crap cleaner suggested on another reply and then I tried the link that was suggested and neither of them has worked. I want to get this message off of my computer. It interrupts when I am in the process of doing other things. How do I get this off of my computer. I have followed all the other steps suggested and I am getting frustrated by this. Please help!

Did you attempt to reinstall? Did you delete the LW prefs folder? Did you also originally attempt to remove LW by using the add/remove control panel?

When you use the start menu > Programs > LW you see each time an uninstaller is there.
