Java JRE 1.6 Killed Limewire To whom this may concern, I downloaded the new Java JRE 1.6 today and ever since I cannot open Limewire Pro 4.12.6. Is this a bug? If so, can you please fix it? If it's not a bug, please advise me as to what I should do. Thanks. |
The Java 1.6 is a beta. Some people might experience problems with it. Uninstall all Java versions on your system. Reboot and then download the JRE offline installer of the newest Java version from here (1.5.0_09 I think): http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp Install it and reboot again. :Smilywais: |
Nope it's final release now, you can find it at http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp Enjoy! |
Then try to download an older version (i.e. the previous version) from their archive: http://java.sun.com/products/archive/ :Smilywais: |
I guess I'll just wait until they fix the problem...thanks anyways foolofthehill. |
I seem to remember having to allow an exception for java through my firewall(sygate PF) whenever I've updated it. I'm not for sure, but you may want to check that. |
Already did, my Firewall is letting all instances of Java pass through. |
You could try deleting the limewire pref. folder. Points 2.) and 3.) in this thread: Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should! This will erase your settings for LW so you may want to make a note of them. If that fails you could uninstall LW by going to C:\Programs\Limewire\Uninstall.exe. Don't use the Add/Remove programs tool in windows. Delete it then reinstall by downloading the offline installer version here: http://www.limewire.com/english/cont...oadfree2.shtml |
