Playing avi. Divx doesnt work anymore

Im having trouble playing avi. files (movies) on my old laptop I downloaded divx and that did the trick, but on my new XPS laptop, divx doesn't help at all, anyone have suggestions?

If DivX player's not working, try VLC player. It's free & has codecs installed...plays most things:)
