I do not like to be conned.

I installed Limewire 4.2.3 and downloaded SUPERMAN RETURNS 2006 DIVX FULL MOVIE 704.7 MB AVI but when i burned this to DVD, the film turned out to be THE HITCHIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY. I have taken legal advice on this and as this was advertised as something else, then you are the ones that are liable.

Therefore within the next 48 hours you are going to do one of the following things.

1) PROVIDE ME WITH THE FILM I DOWNLOADED SUPERMAN RETURNS 2006

2) PAY ME 120 USD TO COVER MY COSTS (TIME IN DOWNLOADING AND BURNING, INK USED TO PRINT DVD COVER AND PRINT ONTO BLACK DVD.

or

3) I CONTACT THE APPRORIATE AUTHORITIES AND HAVE YOUR COMPANY SUED AND CLOSED DOWN FOR FRAUD WITH ALL YOUR DIRECTORS JAILED ON FRAUD CHARGES.

ALL EMAILS TO LIMEWIRE AND THE LIME GROUP ARE RETURNED "NO KNOWN USER" THEREFORE THIS IS FRAUD.

In other words, you're trying to download copyright files. Not sure which country you're from but in some countries this is against copyright laws.

If you want Superman video ... go out & buy it ok!!! The gnutella network is NOT for sharing copyright files. Whilst some people may do it, it doesn't make it ok or legal depending on your whereabouts.

BTW I"m sure you got your LimeWire from a scam site. LW version 4.2.3 was released about 2 years ago. It's an old hat program forgotten about by most people. We're now using LW 4.12 & 4.13 :) Only scam sites would offer such an old program version.

What, you think you were the subject of fraud, so now you want to blackmail someone into giving you what you want?

I'm sure you worked really hard while your computer downloaded it...is it the electricity you used that you're charging for? How much time did you spend burning the DVD without taking the time to see what it was? The ink? That's probably where you lost the most money, right?

:mad: The copyright legallity only comes to effect if you intend to distribute or sell what you copy (the sames as video taping a film of your TV).

I have to use this forum as limewires emails do not work and they say on their site to use the forum to discuss everything.

By law limewire is responsible as thay advertised superman returns download and I recieved hitchikers guide to the galaxy. This is like if you went to your loacl store and purchased a tin of beans, but when you opened this you found this was a tin of carrots as this was sold and advertised within the store you purchased this from, they are liable for false advertising.

THIS IS THE SAME WITH LIMEWIRE, THEY ADVERTISED SUPERMAN RETURNS, BUT SENT ME THE HITCHHIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY.

SO LIMEWIRE ARE THE CON ARTISTS AND SPAMMERS. :mad:

You have been told that you purchased limewire from a scam site and paid for something that is free for the basic version...You have also been told that limewire does not promote copyrighted files in anyway whats so ever...
Limewire is a p2p app and has no servers, it connects you to millions of other computers around the world....My suggestion would be to contact the scam site you purchased from and demand your money back, as trying to contact Limewire support will get you nowhere as you have purchased nothing from them....

Unfortunately your analogy fails on two points.

Firstly, you didn't go to the store and even if you had done you would have found that it wasn't Limewire!

See if this makes it any plainer: let's assume that you bought the film from the Acme Video Store and they posted it to you; again, what is supplied is not what was advertised.

To whom would you complain?

To the mailman or to Acme Video Store?

I am assuming that you answered "Acme Video Store" and in which case you would be correct!

Why? Because you entered into a contract with Acme for the supply of your chosen film. They then entered into a contract with the mailman to deliver a package (your film) from them to you.

There exists no contract between you and the mailman.

The mailman has satisfied the contract that existed between him and Acme.

The point I am trying to get across is that you have no recourse against the mailman.

Why am I banging on about some hypothetical mailman? Because he fulfills Limewire's role in the example.

Whoever you gave your money to, whatever they are calling themselves, no matter how angry you get, Limewire did not sell that film to you.

Infact Limewire did not sell any films to anyone: LIMEWIRE DO NOT PROVIDE CONTENT ONLY THE MEANS TO MOVE IT.

I apologise if I have laboured the point, but really how stupid can someone with only one head be?

Dear Marketman;

I have been scamed numorious times, have downloaded viruses many times
and have had to restore my computer so many times I can't count. It takes me three hours to recover my machine as I purchesed it, then another 5 days to install all the other software I have.

What I would like you to do is give me your attorney name and phone number,
as I would like to go after them. Maybe a class action suit from all of us that have problems.

Please advise.

YOU HAVE TO PREVIEW THE MOVIE YOUR DOWNLOADING.

Your lucky it didnt come up as porn and that it was an actual movie. Ive downloaded movies that turned out to be porn, a different movie, an ad, or simply the wrong language (just happen tonight, Blade 3 in french...) so many times I lost count long ago.

I realize that I might have Over-Clowned you Dude but you were Mad ***-funny :idea: But just incase you are for real"please"take what I have posted & research on it a lil if you like,you will find it is benefical.
If You lay your mouse on the download within limewire & rite click on it then select from the Sub-Menu that pops up "Advanced/LookUp With Bitzi"
A new window will open up & you can read the rating of the file you are currently downloading.
For instance if You were running Limewire & downloading Superman, while it was downloading look it up with Bitzi> http://bitzi.com/browse/ & see if it is rated as Best-Version or Dangerous/Misleading,if so then look up on the rite side of that window & locate the Bizti search engine & type in Superman & hit enter,you will then see a bunch of results you would then need to look for the one highlighted in green & named as Best-Version then riteclick & open in new window & scroll down untill you locate the"Magnet link" & click on the blue text within & wait.

You will see Limewire open up & a new download will start,then search for results for that specific download & wait for it to start once it is at say 3% complete you would then want to Preview it to make sure it is indeed what you want otherwise alot of time can be waisted.

I downloaded a children's movie a while ago (at least I thought it was one), and I was smart enough to preview it first before showing it to my very young nephew. It turned out to be a full-length porn movie. It was deleted straight away.

To the idiot that didn't use common sense: P.R.E.V.I.E.W it to make sure you got what you wanted.

Using Bitzi works even better than previewing.

How to use Bitzi

If Bitzi doesn't know what the file is, download at your own risk!

If you're not too busy (you're not) then do something about it...how many people have to download this porn movie before someone lets Bitzi know that it is not a children's movie? Sure...there are people out there that don't use the preview function. Does this mean the children should be exposed to that kind of material because their guardian doesn't know better?

That all came out unnecessarily, I'm sure, as I'd be willing to bet someone already let Bitzi know...
