Version 2 Pro crashing/sluggish on Win 98
 

Downloaded v2.0 Pro on Dec 23rd and can't get the
program to run consistently.

First, could not update the file types without it crashing
several times (got out of this by CTRL-ALT-DEL) each time.
Final solution was to change the file types immediately after
starting the program and exiting again so they were "saved"

The next few hours were invested in debugging system sluggishness and crashes. Did a clean boot in Win 98 and got
100%CPU utilization and sluggish response.


With my normal operating mode(PWS v4, Serv-U FTP server, etc)
i got kernel386.exe error (white message box) @ 0001:000075a2.

I checked the limewire website and found the "known bug" notice, but this is not 1% of the time.

What gives?

Go into your windows folder and see if you have a folder beneath it named "explorer" (full path c:\windows\explorer\explorer.exe).

Some on usenet reporting that this is a trojan horse/virus that is along for the ride with limewire from at least some of the limewire download sites.
