You can't listen to any songs on your computer?

Check your computer's audio settings. Make sure it's not set to mute.

Don't ask me why, but I had this problem recently and I have NO IDEA how anything got set to mute.

Hope this is your problem (easy fix!) :wasntme:

Hi I'm Have The Same Problem And I Don't Know What To Do, My Pc Is Not On Mute!!! And It Says It Will Not Play Due To Securaty Resons, And Limewire Has Made My Mp3 Into Exe Files Thats Why They Will Not Play So I Don't Know What To Do.
Check To See If All Yur Music Has Been Changed To .exe Formate!!!!

gemam03,
A few people have had this happen over the last couple of days. Maybe there's a new virus around? I'd run an AV scan ASAP & see if anything turns up. It might be worthwhile scanning for spy/adware too;)

Always make sure that you're using a good AV program. Keep it updated & use it to scan downloaded files before opening them! There are links here to help sites (point 5) if necessary.
WARNING: Viruses on the network you should be aware of
Within that thread you'll also find helpful info & links to security tools.

i checked for viruses and i have none!! so its not that. how can i play them.?

safetypinvictory February 10th, 2007 03:54 PM

It looks to me like no one has a virus. Perhaps it's Limewire?

Jeepstylexx February 11th, 2007 06:27 PM

Mine is doing the same thing!!!! All my files have turned to Exe formats and none of the songs will play. I have uninstalled limeware and reinstalled after my virus protector picks nothing up. I have an expensive virus protection system and it picks nothing up. Has anyone figured out how to fix this?? Please help!

same thing happening here...ive unistalled limewire, deleted everything, then reinstalled limewire...it worked fine for a few days, but something, once again, just converted everything back into .exe files(408 kb each).

***here's something noone else has mentioned. when this happens, a new blank folder is created and sits in the bottom of my library, but limewire wont let me delete it. still NO viruses found when i scan.

Tino704 February 12th, 2007 01:03 PM

sorry...that isnt an empty folder- its contains two files- an .exe file (228kb) named xzxzxzxzxzxz and a .zip file(212.6kb) named q7q7q7q7q7q7q7q7xx

is this the same thing all you other guys are getting?

RAPEtastic February 12th, 2007 01:31 PM

I've had the same problems, but I may have found a way around it.
I noticed that any music I put in separate folders was fine, and Limewire did not convert them.
What I did was I changed the folder that I save my files to. So far, it's working fine, but I don't know if it will stay that way. Maybe it can be a temporary fix until someone figures out the problem.

Jeepstylexx February 12th, 2007 06:33 PM

so far no luck here. I've downloaded 2 additional spyware, virus detectors and have gotten no hits. I haven't found a way to delete the file shown in the library and since it's named I can't find it by searching by title. Anyone had any better luck?

muhctekdano February 13th, 2007 05:54 AM

@jeepstylexx

You should be able to delete files directly from Limewire's library. Right-click and select delete. (If you have the newest version of LW, it will send it to the recycle bin, I believe).

If a file won't delete that way, select the file in the LW library and click 'Explore' in the bottom left of the screen. This will open the folder that contains the file in question.

If the file doesn't want to be deleted, this program may help: DelinvFile

Hope this helps :)

i tried saving to a different folder, everything is cool until you restart your computer or limewire...just downloaded about 300 songs yesterday, restarted my computer, and they are all .exe files now

cant delete limewire songs and still play on itunes

Whenever i copy the files over to iTunes, and then delete the file from Limewire, it says it can not play because it cant find original file.. So i have doubles of every song on my computer and its just eating space up. What can i do?

muhctekdano March 3rd, 2007 05:42 PM

You don't really 'copy songs to iTunes'...if you drag and drop your files to iTunes, all it does is tell iTunes where to find those files.

Now for the bad news...unless you have the new beta version (4.13.x)...
deleting files from the LW library will delete them right off of your computer! Don't do this...here's a link that may help:

Deleting files from LW library - DON'T!

Good Luck :o

my friend has no problem!

My friend does exactly the same thing and it works for her,she doesnt know why i cant do it. She has no songs on Limewire and just copied them over to iTunes, it works. I even have a newer computer. The only thing i see that your saying is that she might have a older version of Limewire that works, like the 4.12.x you told me about. Thats the only thing that might be different? Its very frustrating because i have over a year worth of music listening downloaded. :(
