Can't click in Limewire

Hi all. I've been using limewire for a while now, probably about a year and never had any problems with it. Recently I downloaded the new AIM (v6.0) and updated Java to J2SE 5.0 update 10, coincidently on the same day, one after the other and to my surprise after a restart, limewire no longer worked.

It loads up and connects fine, but I cannot click on anything inside the window. I read another thread here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ighlight=mouse
and tried all of the fixes including:

Completely uninstall limewire and java
Restart in safemode and delete .limewire and java folders
Different versions of java/offline versions, including update 11
New fresh download and install of Limewire itself
Multiple virusscans/adware/spyware etc scans from all different softwares.
Updated Video card drivers
Updated mouse drivers

I'm not sure if its related, but on start-up i also cannot click on anything on my desktop until I press CTRL+Alt+DEL. Once I do that I can click on my taskbar and icons and all.

Specs:
Windows xp pro sp2
3.4ghz HT Inspiron 9100
2gigs ram
Mobility radeon 9600/9700 w/ omega drivers
Using a Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse explorer 2.0

Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I really miss limewire :bangh:

Try unistalling AIM and see if it all goes back to normal...It sounds like that's the problem...

Just gave that a shot, no change though. Thanks. Any other ideas?

If you have tried all the fixes in the above thread you found as well, I have no idea why this is happening to you...sorry!!

Success! Well, sort of. First I'll explain my setup. Im using a Dell Inspiron 9100 "notebook," so it has the usual touch-pad and ball that most laptops have. I was, however, using a wireless Microsoft mouse because I could never get used to using the touchpad thats built in.

My Microsoft mouse recently stopped working so I unplugged it and started using the touchpad. Viola! After a restart with the Microsoft mouse unplugged everything works like normal!

Now I just have to figure out what about the mouse was causing the problems? Drivers maybe? Its a quick fix for now and anyone with some insight please feel free to post.
Thanks

More good news. Went out today and picked up a logitech mx revolution (buddy had one he was selling for 20$, pretty sweet deal.). Even with this mouse there are no troubles within limewire, or any other java apps for that matter.

Anyone else who is experiencing problems similar to the ones I had should try a different mouse if at all possible! It worked for me.
