Same Problem here,

I am having the same problem, i just spent the last 2 days uninstalling and reinstalling and downloaded 1500 songs and turned off my computer and then today turned it on and it did the same thing. someone has to know how to fix this!!!!!!

wondering why February 17th, 2007 04:01 PM

Can I ask you guys what file types you are downloading ??
Are they only mp3's or have you downloaded anything else ??
Could you let us know all the file types you have downloaded...

birdy February 17th, 2007 04:22 PM

And also...when the files become .exe, are they all the same size?
Does a new folder appear in your LW library (maybe with no name)? If there is a new folder, does it contain anything?

perryatfd February 19th, 2007 07:13 AM

mostly all mp3's i also have DL a few zip files a couple pc games. All the files i DL turn into program files (all 408 kb), and yes it did create a folder that had a bunch of different files in it, i was unable to delete the folder but i deleted all it's contents. i have uninstalled and reinstalled limewire 3 or 4 times made sure all files were off my computer and it still repeats the same thing. they all stay in my audio folder until i shut the system off then upon restart all my files are converted and moved. the folder it created has a bunch of zip files 212.6 kb in it, about 550 different files alot of it all adult entertainment. i appreciate the help. thanks

Deffinatley doesn't sound good, now we have to determine if it was because of the game file or just an MP3...It's very dangerous to download games and programs through p2p as they are usually always infected...

Just a thought you didn't by chance download that stupid urgent limewire update did you (the one that always shows up in your search results)

You definatley would have a virus and/or nasty spyware on your computer now...I'd suggest you go to one of these sites and post a Highjack this log and get your system cleaned up....

skellybones February 20th, 2007 03:43 PM

I had the exact same problem after I (stupidly) downloaded a movie file. It's caused by a worm (Delf.ATB). Download AVG, do a scan, and you should be fine.

I don't know how many AV programs are picking this up. I know Norton doesn't, but that's not saying much.

wondering why February 20th, 2007 10:57 PM

skellybones could you let us know what file extension and size the movie was...What happened to your files after AVG cleaned up the worm, did they turn back to normal ??
Thanks for your time....:rolleyes_2:

skellybones February 21st, 2007 04:19 PM

The original movie file I attempted to download was .avi, 500-something mb. The file was corrupted, so I got a compressed .zip file instead, 212.6 kb. I wound up uninstalling LW and deleting my entire library before getting AVG, so I don't know if the songs go back to mp3s. But it's been a couple days since then and all my new downloads are working.

angelfan4life6993 February 21st, 2007 07:13 PM

omg skellybones thank u so much cuz i have norton and i didnt kno wat was happening

but yea the same thing happened to me i turned on my computer and all my songs were gone from itunes and all my songs from limewire went to the programs folder and if i try to use the file it says limeiwre will not launch the speciefied file for security reasons so u think if i just do a scan with one of those things it well fix this problem??

birdy February 21st, 2007 07:19 PM

Download AVG free from the link in skellybones's post. Scan your system & see how you go.
If you're still having trouble after that, post back here & we can link you to other help sites if needed.

If AVG does fix things for you, can you please let us know...to help other people in the same boat:)

wandlerkai February 21st, 2007 07:47 PM

same with me i did the scan and they still wont work

mickjapa108 February 22nd, 2007 02:54 AM

Hotshizzle55.
Make sure you update Deffs in AVG first then Re Boot your computer in safe mode, & scan again, Delete all found.
When you've done this restart computer, then try system restore to a point
before U D/L the bad file.
Please post back to give us feedback. Tell us if you have your files back, or not. thank you.
Peace.

wondering why February 22nd, 2007 04:46 PM

Hmmm, I'd say your files could be gone and there might be nothing more you can do to get them back...As this is a fairly new virus we are in the dark about the causes and symtoms of it as well...

I must say that you need to be really careful with every download, make sure files are always over 2000KBs, do not download any zip, exe, wma, wmv files...Don't download any programs or games...It's just to dangerous...

Always Scan your file before playing it, you can do this by going to your shared folder outside of limewire (to find this folder click on one of your files in your LW library and click on explore)
That will open up your shared folder, now right click on your file and you will see the option to scan it with your AV and Spyware Scanner....
If you make this a habit you will stay safe...

Grandpa February 23rd, 2007 08:33 AM

And don't DL any files that are 807kb. So far I have not heard that AVG will get rid of the virus. I have only heard that it will catch it and delete or quarantine it before you open the file. I believe that if you already have it your OS is toast. So far the only way I have found to get rid of it is to Re-Format and Re-install Windows. If any body knows of another way to get rid of it please let us know.

mickjapa108 February 24th, 2007 10:37 AM

Hi hotshizzle55.
Go to the AVG web site an get them to do an on line scan for you
The site will want to install an active X prog, let it install only takes a sec.
not the scan that can take some time.
That should clear it, then update defs n do a scan in safe mode.
Peace,

hotshizzle55 February 24th, 2007 10:40 AM

so first go to the website and do an onlene scan?one question do i have to be in save mode for dat online scan and how long da onlind scan would take?do i update the deffs in safe mode?

hotshizzle55 February 24th, 2007 10:47 AM

i am not sure wat to update the antivirus avg or the antispyware avg?

mickjapa108 February 24th, 2007 10:47 AM

Just normal mode. close every thing but your browser.
Depends on your connection speed how long it takes
Do it or things could get a lot worse.
Update both after scan.
Stop posting everywhere or one of the mods will ban you from posting. Post in this thread only
Peace.

hotshizzle55 February 24th, 2007 10:55 AM

oh ok but there are a lot of websites on avg but in not sure which one can u gimme da one with da scan.....and afta i online scan i should update both da antivirs and antspyware?so which scan should i use to scan in safe mode?
