Pstores.exe

pstores.exe (Protected Storage Service) - Details

The pstores.exe process is used by Internet Explorer and Outlook in order to store sensitive information in your computer's registry securely. It is required for Internet Explorer and Outlook to function correctly and so should not be terminated if you use either of these programs.

This program pops up in my process firewall when limewire starts and i blocked it because i didnt know what it was- and limewire seems to work fine without it. So, what is limewire using this program for and why should i allow it??? :letmesee:

Well, it is not used by LW AFAIK.....

It might be initiated when LW tries to connect to the network...but that might happen through your Windows system.

I wouldn't worry about that.....

starting any version of limewire causes pstores.exe to launch while the splash screen is up. its obviously not vital as limewire searches/downloads/uploads just fine when i block pstores.exe from running. i dont like the idea of any program having access to my registry especially a filesharing program! somebody help me out here
