It appears that limewire is trying to still start himself after I deleted it more then once.

AaronWalkhouse March 8th, 2007 02:06 AM

If it is trying to start when you did not start it then you definitely have a virus.

Fix that and you will be able to fix LimeWire.

Uhm I guess you did not read this?

If it is a virus I suggest you guys find out what kind of known virus I am dealing and tell me how to manually remove it.
You have to understand that I do not use virusscan or any other Bollocks program to clean my pc

Cheers,

ukbobboy01 March 8th, 2007 07:32 AM

cerafil

I guess that you are on your own then as you seem to know it all.

Shark Chum

cerafil March 8th, 2007 07:36 AM

If I had that impression myself I would not have come here to ask.

It is just that limewire is so lame to not leave a phonenumber anywere or an email link.

I want admin/or capable help to get this error away.
I do need people who advertise for "anti" virus software.

Cheers,

PS. I tried looking for Alcra (a worm known by limewire that restarts limewire) but my results were 0 Founds.

mickjapa108 March 8th, 2007 07:47 AM

Respect the people that help on this forum.

Why would any of the people giving up there time for free, want to help a bad
mannerd, no it all,(no nothing more like)
If you want help my friend, I would start wordind your post with the odd please. OH! & YES you have got a known virus problem.
So if you want help with what to do about it. you could start with an appoligy to Aaron.
Peace.

cerafil March 8th, 2007 07:51 AM

why appologise I started the topic to get the help I need.

I know I have a Virus and I know it CAN be removed manually.
I did not ask to be redirected to a forum which everyone can just reply to.

I just want to know how to remove this application manually.
If you do not know how to do that I suggest you stop posting in my request.

I am not trying to be rude here, but if I wanted a stupid anwser I would just have posted a Stupid Question.

Cheers,

cerafil March 8th, 2007 07:54 AM

I will not be mad if no one can help me.:PEACE:

AaronWalkhouse March 8th, 2007 09:04 AM

Since your existing antivirus was helpless, try this one:
AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition

cerafil March 8th, 2007 09:34 AM

Thnxx I guess.

I will give it a try,
it is busy now with the huge file inventory.

And I had no original Anti Virus or Firewall. I trust myself for not downloading Rubbish.

Cheers,

cerafil March 8th, 2007 01:43 PM

OK, Now I AM lost.

forgive me if I am going to say something ignorant because I have no knowledge.

The scan results of 180000 Files has come up with 36028 Corrupted ones.

1. I kinda got the idea that's impossible, I mostly buy my software, but correct me if I am wrong.
2. Isn't it just one program trying to create chaos so that it can avoid such system checks?

But the most anoying thing is.
After it "fixed" all the files.

THE DARN POP UP STILL IS NOT GONE.

I am running a seccond and third run with reboots.
and as we know with windows that could be the trick.
I just needed to post this to get rid of me anger.

:D :PEACE:

Cheers,

cerafil March 8th, 2007 01:50 PM

as it seems now all files gatherred trough p2p were corrupted.

Isn't that strange?

cerafil March 8th, 2007 11:36 PM

Thanks Aaron,

I took the risk of using the program and it worked Flawless.

Cheers,

mickjapa108 March 9th, 2007 01:10 AM

Hi cerafil.
After finding so many bogus files, its my recomendation that you Defragment
your computer, that will help speed things up for you.
also stay away from .exe,.rar,.zip files, they are 99.9% viruses.
Here's another exelent Free program that is used by the experts.
When using P2P, I sujest you run a scan befor turning off your computer,
Some nasties, become active once you reboot, so a scan with SpyBot, may
clear these before they become a problem.
Oh! dont use the advanced options,Before reading all the facts, you could damage your computer.
Use this link to get SpyBot search n destroy.

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html
Peace.

cerafil March 9th, 2007 02:13 AM

Thank you MICK I forgot, very good of you to remember me.
I run one every month, but the latest was very recent.

I might just be oblivious to the good things it can do, but Spybot S&D has never brought Me anything but trouble.

Anywayz I will defrag..

When I tried reinstalling limewire..... I never got any further. I had to manually delete all the ocrrupted files that came in.
100's of them

mickjapa108 March 9th, 2007 02:28 AM

These 100's of small files are downloaded by the worm itself and can be a pain
From what you are saying, I would have a good clear out.
Here is a method used to start from the begining.

Follow thease instructions exactly.
So, you need to Go, Start/All Programs/LimeWire n Uninstall all L/W versions.
Do Not Uninstall From Change or Remove Programs.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now Go to, Start/Search/click on all files n folders/more advanced options/
& make sure, case sensitive, is not ticked. (all other boxes should be ticked)
Now!!, Put limewire in box, (all or part of file name) & click search.
Delete everything found, including Prefetch folder, (I mean everything)
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Go to,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Use this Link to get JRE 6, Use the off line installer, NOT the (recormended) one,
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
When Download is completed.
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.

Now!! Use this link to download latest L/W version using the off line installer
http://www.limewire.com/
If you need help, Shout, If it fixed your problem or not, Feedback helps others.
Peace

cerafil March 9th, 2007 02:39 AM

When I read you help I find out I will run into 2 problems I cannot solve yett.

1.
There are 5 boxes to click.

Which from above is it? 1st, 2nd... ect.

My windows is in dutch and I have not found out the translation they used for Case sensitivity (Bestands gevoeligheid)(freetranslated)

2.
I never disable my internet, I frankly do not know another way to disconnect then pull out the network cable.

I figured I could better ask this first instead of starting like a mad man and **** up :D

Cheers

cerafil March 9th, 2007 02:41 AM

:O And I did Uninstall limewire already, so it will not appear in start/programs...

Does this mean I must reinstall it?

P>S> The POP UP I Started this subject for is GONE.
But I am very willing to help out.. and give feedback.

mickjapa108 March 9th, 2007 04:10 AM

Sorry for time delay friend im a little bussy.
I have XP home SP2
When I click on Start/search, then Click on, "all files and folders" then at botom, "more advanced options" ON mine its the 4th box down. This one
you must untick, the others should have a tick in boxes.

Its ok to pull net conection But if you go to Network connections, Right click on your connection, then choose "create shortcut" you can put a link on your desktop for easy use.
You say!!
":O And I did Uninstall limewire already, so it will not appear in start/programs...Does this mean I must reinstall it?
No It should be OK. Just folow rest of info that will clear things.
Just shout if you get stuck.

cerafil March 9th, 2007 04:21 AM

OK this is going to be hard but i will try.
I come across an error while trying to delete the new found files.

In dutch it is;

Fout bij het verwijderen van bestand of map

Kan bestand niet verwijderen. Kan geen gegeven van het bronbestand of op de bronschijf lezen.

Freely Translated it will be;
Mistake while trying to delete file or map
Cannot delete the file. Cannot read files from the source or sources drive.

cheers,

**I always thought this was some kind of standard error when you try to delete something you already deleted in Configuration/software.

cerafil March 9th, 2007 04:24 AM

And Mr. JAPA nothing to be sorry about.

I guess this forum is used so that these programs do not need to pay smart people to anwser stupid Questions.

I am glad you like to help.

cerafil March 9th, 2007 04:44 AM

I will be back tomorrow night.

mickjapa108 March 9th, 2007 05:11 AM

Ok
If you go to Start/My computer, at top of page, Tools/Folder Options/View

in safe mode.
To boot in safe mode.
Hold down Key F8 at boot untill black screen with white writing comes up
then use UP button to highlight SAFE MODE, Press enter/enter a warning will come up then click ok.
Let it set up, Then go back to search, You should now be able to delete the
files. If not right click on file, Choose Open containing folder, try to delete from there. Just shout if you get stuck.

cerafil March 19th, 2007 08:02 AM

I am back and i will start solving it now.

My pc has turned out to become REAL SLOW till now. I have defragmentised and Cleaned out my PC, but appearantly that wasn't ennough I will now continu trying to delete all remains of limewire.

Everything is done for and the pop up has gone away.

The only problems I got left are:

1. My pc has never regained his old Speed.
2. I probs will never be able to download any p2p without fearing the worst.
3. Kinda off direction, but does anybody knows a remedy against "You seem to be the victim of illegal windows" Error Messages?

Thanks yah all.
Cheers,
