Default WMP trying to open everything

I started having trouble last week with my none pro version of limewire 4.10 so i upgraded to 4.12 and still doing the same thing.

I went to the help tab in limewire and clicked on F.A.Q. and windows media player pop's up saying it did not have the right codecs. It does the same thing with everything in the help tab and if you're trying to look up file info on something. Any Idea's?

My Idea would be to get rid of wmp it sucks. I had nothing but trouble with it. There are so many better players out there you dont have to put up with the bull sh*t from microsoft. Just a suggestion and my opinion. I use nero media player and burn with AVS Audio Tools]http://www.avsmedia.com

I did try to unistall WMP the day the problem started, first i upgraded from version 10 to 11 and no change then i tried to unistall it but it only rolled back to 10 and would not let me take it off.

I have Nero, i didn't know you could play stuff thru it though, thought it was just for burning.

Hey Crow, I have an OEM version of Nero 6. Came with the Sony DVD burner I bought. I upgraded to Nero 7 and the player was gone. I liked the player so much I loaded Nero 6 back on just for the player. I have read in these forums VLC I believe is a good player. Just going from memory here. Any thing is better than WMP.

Yeah i'll have a look at VLC and maybe try it out.
But any Idea's on how to stop WMP from trying to open limewire stuff that it should not be? I unchecked every file type in WMP and it still does it.

Hi man.
Install Vlc, then go to your library in L/W, highlight a file you want VLC to be the
Defult of, then in the bottom left corner click on explore.
That brings you to your Download folder.
Now, Right click on file, choose open with, highlight VLC, then tick the box to
always open this type of file with VLC.
Peace.

Ok I tried installing both AVS & VLC and im still having the same problem.

The problem is WMP is trying to open links in Limewire, like the link in the middle of the bar on the bottom of limewire that says upgrade or get pro. Limewire is the only program i have so far that WMP is messing with.

Im not having any trouble playing the files, just trying to go to the info links about Limewire.

Maybe try getting the codecs for WMP, that may stop this from happening, I've actually never heard of this problem before and when I googled it I came up with nothing...

Anyway here's a good codec pac...Cross your fingers this works...
