To the LORD: LW won't execute after install!

OK LORD !
LIMEWIRE installs, starts to load, then stops!
I've read the other posts and have successfully gone to http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ and passed.

LW started doing this to me about 6-9 months ago...
I'm dualling XP Pro SP2 and W2K3 Enterprise new SP2 set-up as a Workstation. LW used-to work BOTH OSses as I said a few months ago.
Both are up to date via Service Packs, or AutoPatcher, verified with visits to Microsoft Update to get a "No Update".

Firewalls and AV are AVG kept up-to-the-minute.
512 RAM, 28 GB HD Available, connections are numerous.
Since it won't load the hardware's not the problem.
JAVA is the 1.6. Update 1 just out a day or so ago.(04/07)
OS'ses BOTH will not load LimeWire.

With PRO and BETA software (after vacuuming, even without), it easily installs, then,
the lime shows up, and the banner-strip (waiting for it to say "Loading
HTML Engine) disappears without any reference in Event Viewer nor any
tripping-open of Doc Watson.

Windows Firewall is off BUT ALL Limewire exes are permitted.
AVG Firewall is on with the same permitted
AVG Anti-Virus (<one day old) has every LW dll, exe listed under "Potentially
Unwanted Program Exceptions".

Something STOPS LW dead at execution.
I don't normally post things I'm not sure of, but Port 220 seems to be
loaded in my frontal lobe.
BearShare WORKS
Shareazza WORKS
BUT, I don't like them better than the 'ol LIME.
The only software change that matches the startup of LW problems for me are the updates and changes to FlashGet over the same time period. Removing FlashGet and vacuuming doesn't help the problem.

Am I looking at some kind of LM HOSTS editing or some kind of editing of the basic software?
I appreciate your help!

It sounds like something affecting the actual program. If you have Java 1.6, then remove any previous version of Java. Also try changing the compatibility mode of LW. Tips here Fixes for Limewire. Deleting the LW prefs folder is also a wise thing to try. ;) :) OH & did you install LW usng the online or offline installer. I'd recommend the offline one so you are actually instaling from your computer & not waiting for data to arrive over the net whilst it installs.
