Need help with my VLC player

I had to reinstall Limewire and VLC after a virus pretty much wiped out my entire laptop. I'm having trouble with a few things though.
1) All of my music files have the VLC symbol beside them now (not a major problem but it is annoying.)
2) The mpeg files only play on VLC now, they use to play on my windows media player.
3) It'll play avi. files, but not when I click on them. I have to find them in the explore folder, right click and click play. How do I get it so it automatically plays?

Thanks for any help.:Smilywais:

When you installed VLC it set itself as your default player. You can just change it back to WMP, and that'll change the icon too.

Open the folder with your files in it. An easy way to do that is to find the folder in the LW library, and open it with the "explore" button.

Then find the file you want, right click it, > properties > opens with > change, and select WMP, > OK > apply. You can change any file type this way. You should only have to do it once for each file type(mp3, avi, mpg, ect).

I don't think LW can launch files in VLC. You'll have to do it manually if you want it as your default player. I have WMP set as my default for video files. LW can launch the files in WMP. I just use VLC if WMP can't play them.

Just to add, LW versions 4.13 & onwards (Betas) can launch files from within LW using VLC;)

yea, thanks pac and birdy, Im using a really old pro version (4.8). Im about to buy the new PRO version. I didnt know that Limewire doesnt sell PRO on CD's any more, only downloads. Oh, and birdy, do u mean that only the newer Beta versions can launch files in VLC, or the non beta ones too? I dont like Beta because I can't drag and drop music from Limewire to iTunes, and it's a hassle. So hopefully you don't mean only the Beta versions can.
Thanks.

Anyone know why Limewire doesn't sell PRO on a CD anymore?
