Opening Torrents I have Limewire beta and downloaded a popular TV show. I am unsure how to open this file. It says Limewire Torrent, then when I double click it , Limewire opens and nothing happens. Can anyone help me to open this file please |
I'm not very knowledgable on Torrents, but AFAIK there's different types or from different sources. So normally a torrent should be able to be downloaded via LW. However, apparently some torrent clients & sites are not fully compatible with LW's torrent technology. It's my guess your torrent file which is probably very small in size is caught up somewhere in the above issues. Best to find torrents listed at sites & download the seeds from them. Then download the torrent file. |
I usually have LW sitting in the system tray and then I go for a search on a torrent site...I find the torrent I want, click on download, you will get the run or save window appear, I select run, then it will automatically appear in the download window of LW... Now they don't always connect, sometimes you will get the locating sources and that can take awhile, but when it does find sources it will start to download.... Once downloaded it will be in your shared folder, to find this folder click on one of your files in your lw library and click on explore... The torrent will be sitting inside a folder open the folder inside you will find (for a tv show) between 1 to 3 files...You will know which one is the film because of the size of it... Now you can either select play and watch it on your comp or do as I do, drag it out of the folder and plop the film file right next to the folder it came from and then I delete the folder with the other 2 files inside....But not after I have seeded the torrent in it's whole for the amont of time that's requested (usually 24hrs)... Then you open up your LW library select the shared folder there, right click on the file as it will be red and select share...;) I will do this process with movies as well, but I don't go near the torrents with more than 3 files inside because I have no idea how to put together 105 zipped files..:D I hope this helps...:) |
I've tried to open 10 torrents downloaded from thepiratebay - all ended with the error message: Limewire was unable to load the specified torrent file, - it may be malformed or Limewire does not have permission to access .... The torrents were in my download directory. From the 4 torrent files I've downloaded with LW 4.13.4, and LW opened automatically, two torrents were "malformed" too. It's not a good rate. |
Hmmm...I've never come across that problem, but I'm still using 4.13.2...You should report that at the Beta forums and see what the devs say about it...;) Bugs and Beta Testing - LimeWire Forums |
