LimeWire 4.12.11 does not start up I've had LimeWire on my computer for a few months already. Sadly, a virus somehow infected my system and I was forced to re-format since it had caused extensive damage to most my files. After I had downloaded the latest version of Java (JRE 6 Update 1), LimeWire stopped working immediately. All I get now is that splash image of LimeWire, then nothing. No matter how many PC restarts or Java re-installations, nothing happens. These are my PC specs: Processor: Pentium 4 2.0 GHz RAM: 512 MB Hard Disk Drive: 40 GB Operating System: Windows XP Service Pack 2 [edit] Anti-Virus: AVG Free Version 7.5 Build 467 Firewall: PC Tools Firewall Plus (Free firewall)<--- Not on the list of software that would cause LimeWire problems, so I presumed it would be okay to use. Please remember, I have had LimeWire working for me for months before the re-format. I have exactly the same software as I had before. What's wrong with my LimeWire? __________________________________________________ Edited to comply with the House Rules. First of all, please remove any reference to pirated software from your post. It's in blatant violation of the FORUM RULES. :sniper2: |
the pirated software could be the root of your problems. Crackers are Hackers too, ya know. |
Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....(4th one down) Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5 |
Vhan Strife Hi Follow these instructions exactly. So, you need to Go, Start/All Programs/LimeWire n Uninstall all L/W versions. Do Not Uninstall From Change or Remove Programs. Re BOOT Your computer NOW. Now Go to, Start/Search/click on all files n folders/more advanced options/ & make sure, case sensitive, is not ticked. (all other boxes should be ticked) Now!!, Put limewire in box, (all or part of file name) & click search. Delete everything found, including Prefetch folder, (I mean everything) Re BOOT Your computer NOW. Now! Go to, START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs, now completely remove all versions of java. Re BOOT Your computer NOW. Now! Use this Link to get (jre-1.5.11) Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one, Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5 When Download is completed. Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java. Now!! Use this link to download latest L/W version using the off line installer LimeWire If you need help, Shout, If it fixed your problem or not, Feedback helps others. Peace |
