Default HELP!!! audio files not normal?

I just got this POS dell computer today and tried to download some songs off limewire for my ipod. one problem, every song i download sounds way off when i play the finished file. it sounds like it's playing way too fast and every singer is on a cloud of helium .... running windows 2000 Professional edition against my will cuz u gotta run what u can afford right? anyways thankz in advance to anyone who can help me rectify this problem asap so i can go back to the good ol' days of enjoying my limewire...

Sounds like it could be codecs....Get G-Spot it will tell you what codecs you need for your Win 2000...

it won't let me download that program??? says i can't open it or some crap. also, it's only audio files that are going crazy, the videos sound and play fine. could it be the audio codecs? and how would one go about fixxing those?

Have a look through this link as it has info on what codecs and how to install them for windows 2000...

thankz for all your help but it's a hardware conflict and since i bought the computer on ebay, i'm kinda screwed when it comes to any kind of help...... u'r advice and time are greatly appreciated. good thing i have my ipod so i can still listen to music lol. thankz again til next time
