![]() Thanks gang! 1 gig RAM 200 gig HD SBC-Yahoo DSL w/Siemens modem home connection Don't know for certain how i got the 2 viruses but other posts explain it is very common. Java gets infested through false web site updates so beware! The version I had the viruses on was the latest 1.6.0 AV said: application data/sun/java/deployment/cache/6.0/31 trojan exploit! Yahoo did not delete. Just informed. I deleted them (2) manually. IDX files. I have uninstalled all versions of java. Currently running 1.5.0.05 as advised by another post (early LW, early Java). ![]() Thanks WW, I'll look into it. I'm beginning to think Limewire is responsible for this mishap, possibly rendering older versions "non-compliant" thus getting re-purchases into the millions in revenues. I repeat.... re-purchases. There, I got it out of my system. I'll probably re-purchase LW for the 20 twenty bucks again. If the internet info won't help. LW cust. service has not been much help. Even though they have record of my purchase, there is no cust. service available. Last edited by pbar1000; May 10th, 2007 at 06:58 PM. |

![]() After cleaning both HD's with defrag and a safemode scandisk: Scanned w/SBC Yahoo AV. Nothing. Scanned w/AVG found browser hijack file and several malware files! Scanned w/Mcafee. Nothing. Scanned w/Fix-It Utilities. 932 errors in my registry were repaired! No viruses. 5 malware. Deleted Java v5.0.05 Deleted .limewire Re-installed JRE offline version 6 update 1 (the most recent). Deleted .limewire folder. Still no connection to LW......... I'm not giving up without a fight. Deleted .limewire Downloaded latest LW free version online. Brickwall!!!! ? Feels like I'm up against one. Shut off windows firewall but SBC Yahoo has one built-in. My earlier disk version doesn't have the firewall indicator icon (v4.2.6) I also just learned SBC-Yahoo has purposely but temporarily closed several ports on their customer' computers for security. My LW port is not one of them. Any ideas? I'm perplexed... Last edited by pbar1000; May 20th, 2007 at 06:29 PM. |

![]() Ok let's see.... The Java you are running version 6 update 1 has some sort of problem with some set ups, so I would suggest rolling back to 5.11 using the JRE offline version Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5 When you deleted the .limewire folder did you also look for the LimeWire folder, they are 2 seperate folders...The .limewire was for the older versions and the LimeWire for the newer... Follow this thread to the end, it will explain further... Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should If there is still no difference try right-clicking the Limewire icon and going to properties and change compatability setting to Windows 2000. (but only if you're using Windows 2000 or later.) Somebody reported changing to Windows NT compatibility fixed their problem despite not using that operating system version. Right-click on the Limewire icon on the desktop and click on Run as. Then it should come up showing the current user and then switch it over to Administrator. (but 'only' if you're the admin of your comp.!)
